Murat Halstead (1829-1908) was a nineteenth century American journalist, editor and author. He studied law and graduated from Farmer's college in 1851, then worked on the weekly paper Columbian and Great West. In 1865 he became the editor of the Commercial. Then he moved to New York City where he published stories in the Cosmopolitan Monthly and served as an editor for the Brooklyn Standard Union. His works include: Life and Distinguished Services of Hon.
