Este documento contiene el informe técnico del taller regional de capacitación sobre la Convención sobre el Comercio Internacional de Especies Amenazadas de Fauna y Flora Silvestres (CITES), la pesca y los dictámenes de adquisición legal (DAL) para 13 países de América Latina y el Caribe, organizado conjuntamente por el Servicio de Derecho para el Desarrollo de la Oficina Jurídica de la FAO y la Secretaría de la CITES, en colaboración con las Oficinas de la FAO para Ecuador y para América Latina y el Caribe. El taller se realizó en español y de forma presencial, del 8 al 11 de mayo de 2023. El taller tuvo como objetivos sensibilizar y fortalecer la comprensión de los requisitos de la CITES y su implementación en el sector pesquero; presentar y capacitar a los participantes en el uso del Estudio Jurídico y la Guía FAO-CITES; capacitar a los participantes en el uso de la Guía Rápida para Formular DAL, disponible en el Anexo 3 de la Resolución 18.7 (Rev. CoP19); e identificar las necesidades e intereses de los países para una mejor implementación de la CITES en el sector pesquero. Un total de 50 participantes asistieron al taller, procedentes de 13 países de la región de América Latina y el Caribe (Argentina, República Bolivariana de Venezuela, Brasil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, República Dominicana, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, México, Panamá y Perú), organizaciones regionales (la Red de Observancia y Aplicación de la Normativa Silvestre para Centroamérica y República. Dominicana y la Comisión Permanente del Pacífico Sur), organizaciones no gubernamentales (Defensores de la Vida Silvestre y el Fondo Mundial para la Naturaleza), el sector privado (empresas pesqueras), así como la Oficina de las Naciones Unidas contra la Droga y el Delito, además de la Secretaría de la CITES y la FAO.
