Reactive Intermediates In Organic Chemistry written by Maya Shankar Singh and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-01-22 with Science categories.

Most reactions in organic chemistry do not proceed in a single step but rather take several steps to yield the desired product. In the course of these multi-step reaction sequences, short-lived intermediates can be generated that quickly convert into other intermediates, reactants, products or side products. As these intermediates are highly reactive, they cannot usually be isolated, but their existence and structure can be proved by theoretical and experimental methods. Using the information obtained, researchers can better understand the underlying reaction mechanism of a certain organic transformation and thus develop novel strategies for efficient organic synthesis. The chapters are clearly structured and are arranged according to the type of intermediate, providing information on the formation, characterization, stereochemistry, stability, and reactivity of the intermediates. Additionally, representative examples and a problem section with different levels of difficulty are included for self-testing the newly acquired knowledge. By providing a deeper understanding of the underlying concepts, this is a musthave reference for PhD and Master Students in organic chemistry, as well as a valuable source of information for chemists in academia and industry working in the field. It is also ideal as primary or supplementary reading for courses on organic chemistry, physical organic chemistry or analytical chemistry.

Organic Reactions is a comprehensive series devoted to important synthetic reactions, each volume having wide applicability. Each chapter focuses on a single reaction or a definitive phase of a reaction, and each is written by world-renowned chemists with extensive hands-on experience in their specialties. The material is presented from a preparative point of view, and particular attention is given to reaction limitations, interfering influences, effects of chemical structure, and the selection of experimental conditions. Each reaction includes information about its conditions, products, and yields, where available, and is fully referenced to the primary literature. The authors also include detailed procedures illustrating the significant modifications of the chemical reaction, as well as tables featuring all pertinent data about the reaction. Volume 60 contains two chapters: "Epoxide Migration (Payne Rearrangement) and Related Reactions," by Robert M. Hanson, and "The Intramolecular Heck Reaction," by J.T. Link. The most comprehensive and highly focused treatment of important organic reactions currently available, this series represents an important addition to chemistry libraries in both academic and industrial settings, and is a valuable resource for both students and professionals in the field.

Demonstrates the advantages of catalytic cascade reactionsfor synthesizing natural products and pharmaceuticals Riding the wave of green chemistry, catalytic cascade reactionshave become one of the most active research areas in organicsynthesis. During a cascade reaction, just one reaction solvent, one workup procedure, and one purification step are needed, thussignificantly increasing synthetic efficiency. Featuring contributions from an international team of pioneersin the field, Catalytic Cascade Reactions demonstrates theversatility and application of these reactions for synthesizingvaluable compounds. The book examines both organocatalysis andtransition-metal catalysis reactions, bringing readers up to datewith the latest discoveries and activities in all major areas ofcatalytic cascade reaction research. Catalytic Cascade Reactions begins with three chaptersdedicated to organocatalytic cascade reactions, exploring amines,Brønsted acids, and the application of organocatalytic cascadereactions in natural product synthesis and drug discovery. Next, the book covers: Gold-catalyzed cascade reactions Cascade reactions catalyzed by ruthenium, iron, iridium, rhodium, and copper Palladium-catalyzed cascade reactions of alkenes, alkynes, andallenes Application of transition-metal catalyzed cascade reactions innatural product synthesis and drug discovery Engineering mono- and multifunctional nanocatalysts for cascadereactions Multiple-catalyst-promoted cascade reactions All chapters are thoroughly referenced, providing quick accessto important original research findings and reviews so that readerscan explore individual topics in greater depth. Drawing together and analyzing published findings scatteredacross the literature, this book provides a single source thatencapsulates our current understanding of catalytic cascadeprocesses. Moreover, it sets the stage for the development of newcatalytic cascade reactions and their applications.

Chiral molecules are needed for the production of many pharmaceuticals and materials, and catalytic asymmetric synthesis provides a method for the preparation of such chiral products. For the synthesis of complex molecules, such as natural products and biologically active compounds, more than one catalytic reaction may be necessary and tandem catalysis refers to the combination of catalytic reactions into one synthesis. By combing catalysts it enables a more efficient, economical and selective one pot approach for complex molecule synthesis which could not be achieved through single specific catalytic systems. The challenge is finding the right catalyst which is compatible with other catalysts but also tolerates reagents, solvent and intermediates generated during the course of the reaction. Enantioselective Multicatalysed Tandem Reactions provides an overview of recent developments in the area. The first part of the book covers asymmetric tandem reactions catalysed by multiple catalysts from the same discipline (organocatalysts, two metal and multienzyme-catalysed reactions). The second part looks at tandem reactions catalysed by multiple catalysts from different disciplines including reactions catalysed by a combination of metals and organocatalysts, reactions catalysed by a combination of metals and enzymes, and finally reactions catalysed by a combination of organocatalysts and enzymes. The book will appeal to researchers and professionals in academic and industrial laboratories interested in catalysis, biocatalysis and organic synthesis of chiral compounds.
