This powerful book by bestselling author Colin Seale shows how you can overcome barriers and create sustainable pathways to realizing equity for your students. Part I of the book explains why all education stakeholders should not just prioritize equity, but go beyond the buzzwords. Part II looks at why good intentions aren’t enough, and provides six ways you can leverage your power to really start doing something about equity. Part III discusses the five classroom-level philosophical shifts needed to make real change, including how to think differently about gifted education and achievement gaps. Finally, Part IV offers a variety of practical strategies for making equity real in your classrooms, no matter what grade level or subject area you teach. Throughout each chapter, you’ll find stories, examples, and research to bring the ideas to life. With the concrete suggestions in this book, you’ll be able to overcome deficit models, focus on opportunities for academic success and educational justice, and make equity tangible for each of your students.

He has been cited in the press nearly 300 times since Enron's bankruptcy, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post.. Valuation is the natural starting point toward buying or selling a business or securities through the stock market. Essential in wealth management, the valuation process allows the measurement of the strengths and weaknesses of a company and provides a historical reference for its development. This guide on valuation methods focuses on three global approaches: the assetbased approach, the fundamental or DCF approach, and the market approach. Ultimately, this book provides the basics needed to estimate the value of a small business. Many pedagogical cases and illustrations underpin its pragmatic and didactic content. However, it also contains enough theories to satisfy an expert audience. This book is ideal for business owners and additional players in the business world, legal professionals, accountants, wealth management advisers, and bankers, while also of interest to business school students and investors.

Using a multi-country panel of banks, we study whether better capitalized banks experienced higher stock returns during the financial crisis. We differentiate among various types of capital ratios: the Basel risk-adjusted ratio; the leverage ratio; the Tier I and Tier II ratios; and the tangible equity ratio. We find several results: (i) before the crisis, differences in capital did not have much impact on stock returns; (ii) during the crisis, a stronger capital position was associated with better stock market performance, most markedly for larger banks; (iii) the relationship between stock returns and capital is stronger when capital is measured by the leverage ratio rather than the risk-adjusted capital ratio; (iv) higher quality forms of capital, such as Tier 1 capital and tangible common equity, were more relevant.

For decades, thousands of people have gathered in Omaha, Nebraska for the Berkshire Hathaway AGM, and quizzed Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger on everything from the psychology of successful investors to the future of Coca-Cola and Apple. But unless you attended, for many years you only had access to what people could remember and report back from the meetings. In 2018, Berkshire released the archives of the annual meetings going back to 1994. Alex Morris—an equities analyst and financial writer—watched hundreds of hours of video from these annual meetings (as well as the six AGMs held since 2018), covering more than 1,700 questions asked by Berkshire Hathaway shareholders over the past 31 years. He then gathered, organized and edited the most interesting material into a comprehensive and accessible form. Buffett and Munger Unscripted is the result. From the art of intelligent capital allocation to the best ways to judge and compensate management, from understanding the nature of markets to embracing the power of long-term time horizons, this is a book with compelling insights on every page. In addition to collecting many famous quotes in their original context, it is a deep treasure trove of profound insights on all aspects of investing and business. Discover the importance of avoiding difficult decisions, the first question you should ask on a potential new investment, how to recover from unsuccessful investments, the importance of finding the right owners to partner with, Buffett and Munger’s book recommendations—and much more. The perfect companion to The Essays of Warren Buffett: Lessons for Corporate America and Poor Charlie’s Almanack, Buffett and Munger Unscripted belongs on the bookshelf of everyone interested in the keys to long-term success in business and investing.
