"TAPSOFT '91 is the Fourth International Joint Conference on Theory and Practice of Software Development. It was held in Brighton, April 8-12, 1991, and was organized by the Department of Computing, Imperial College, London. The proceedings of TAPSOFT '91 are organized into three parts: - Advances in Distributed Computing (ADC) - Colloquium on Trees in Algebra and Programming (CAAP) - Colloquium on Combining Paradigms for Software Development (CCPSD) The proceedings are published in two volumes. The first volume (LNCS, Vol. 493) contains the papers from CAAP. The second volume (LNCS, Vol. 494) contains the papers from the ADC and CCPSD. The ADC talks by distinguished invited speakers surveys current developments in distributed computing, including the integration of different paradigms for concurrency, algebraic, logical and operational foundations, and applications to software engineering and formal methods. The CCPSD papers address aspects of the trend in software enginering towards unification and synthesis combining theory and practice, and merging hitherto diverse approaches."--PUBLISHER'S WEBSITE.

"The main idea behind the series of volumes Advances in Petri Nets is to present to the general computer science community recent results which are the most representative and significant for the development of the area. Thepapers for the volumes are drawn mainly from the annual International Conferences on Applications and Theory of Petri Nets. Selected papers from the latest conference are independently refereed, and revised and extended as necessary. Some further papers submitted directly to the editor are included. Advances in Petri Nets 1991 covers the 11th International Conference on Applications and Theory of Petri Nets held in Paris, France in June 1991. The volume contains the Bibliography of Petri Nets 1990 prepared by H. Pl}nnecke and W. Reisig, with over 4000 entries."--PUBLISHER'S WEBSITE.

The innovative progress in the development oflarge-and small-scale parallel computing systems and their increasing availability have caused a sharp rise in interest in the scientific principles that underlie parallel computation and parallel programming. The biannual "Parallel Architectures and Languages Europe" (PARLE) conferences aim at presenting current research material on all aspects of the theory, design, and application of parallel computing systems and parallel processing. At the same time, the goal of the PARLE conferences is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to ex change ideas on recent developments and trends in the field of parallel com puting and parallel programming. The first ~wo conferences, PARLE '87 and PARLE '89, have succeeded in meeting this goal and made PARLE a conference that is recognized worldwide in the field of parallel computation. PARLE '91 again offers a wealth of high-quality research material for the benefit of the scientific community. Compared to its predecessors, the scope of PARLE '91 has been broadened so as to cover the area of parallel algo rithms and complexity, in addition to the central themes of parallel archi tectures and languages. The proceedings of the PARLE '91 conference contain the text of all con tributed papers that were selected for the programme and of the invited papers by leading experts in the field.

Algebraic System Specification And Development written by Michel Bidoit and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991-06-26 with Computers categories.
Methods for the algebraic specification of abstract data types were proposed in the early 1970s in the USA and Canada and became a major research issue in Europe shortly afterwards. Since then the algebraic approach has come to play a central role in research on formal specification and development, as its range of applications was extended to the specification of complete software systems, to the formal description of the program development process, and to the uniform definition of syntax and semantics of programming languages. Today this approach extends beyond just software to the development of integrated hardware and software systems. These flourishing activities in the area of algebraic specifications have led to an abundance of approaches, theories and concepts, which have universal algebra, category theory and logic as a common mathematical basis. This volume is an annotated bibliography which provides an up-to-date overview of past and present work on algebraic specification. No attempt is made to provide a coherent introduction to the topic for beginners; the intention is rather to provide a guide to the current literature for researchers in algebraic specification and neighboring fields. Some indications of how the different approaches are related are included, together with some ideas concerning possible future directions.

This volume presents the proceedings of the Second Workshop on Algorithms and Data Structures (WADS '91), held at Carleton University in Ottawa. The workshop was organized by the School of Computer Science at Carleton University. The workshop alternates with the Scandinavian Workshop on Algorithm Theory (SWAT), continuing the tradition of SWAT '88 (LNCS, Vol. 318), WADS '89 (LNCS, Vol. 382), and SWAT '90 (LNCS, Vol. 447). From 107 papers submitted, 37 were selected for presentation at the workshop. In addition, there were 5 invited presentations.

This volume presents the proceedings of the first French-Soviet workshop on algebraic coding, held in Paris in July 1991. The idea for the workshop, born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1990, was to bring together some of the best Soviet coding theorists. Scientists from France, Finland, Germany, Israel, Italy, Spain, and the United States also attended. The papers in the volume fall rather naturally into four categories: - Applications of exponential sums - Covering radius - Constructions -Decoding.
