Meditations on the Psalms helping women to express their feelings and grow in their faith. Many of us suppress our feelings because we’re worried they are ungodly. Others of us are so led by our emotions that we let them dominate everything, including our faith. In these honest, personal and uplifting meditations on 24 selected psalms, Courtney Reissig looks at emotions we all experience, ranging from shame, anxiety, and anger through to gratitude, hope, and joy. For each, she shows how the psalms give us permission to acknowledge how we feel before God, and how they can help us to use those feelings productively and faithfully. This inspiring book will give women a language to cry out to God in order to help them process their feelings, as well as help them to grow in their faith. Can be used as a daily devotion.

Evangelical Catholicism written by George Weigel and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-22 with Religion categories.

The Catholic Church is on the threshold of a bold new era in its two-thousand year history. As the curtain comes down on the Church defined by the 16th-century Counter-Reformation, the curtain is rising on the Evangelical Catholicism of the third millennium: a way of being Catholic that comes from over a century of Catholic reform; a mission-centered renewal honed by the Second Vatican Council and given compelling expression by Blessed John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. The Gospel-centered Evangelical Catholicism of the future will send all the people of the Church into mission territory every day -- a territory increasingly defined in the West by spiritual boredom and aggressive secularism. Confronting both these cultural challenges and the shadows cast by recent Catholic history, Evangelical Catholicism unapologetically proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the truth of the world. It also molds disciples who witness to faith, hope, and love by the quality of their lives and the nobility of their aspirations. Thus the Catholicism of the 21st century and beyond will be a culture-forming counterculture, offering all men and women of good will a deeply humane alternative to the soul-stifling self-absorption of postmodernity. Drawing on thirty years of experience throughout the Catholic world, from its humblest parishes to its highest levels of authority, George Weigel proposes a deepening of faith-based and mission-driven Catholic reform that touches every facet of Catholic life -- from the episcopate and the papacy to the priesthood and the consecrated life; from the renewal of the lay vocation in the world to the redefinition of the Church's engagement with public life; from the liturgy to the Church's intellectual life. Lay Catholics and clergy alike should welcome the challenge of this unique moment in the Church's history, Weigel urges. Mediocrity is not an option, and all Catholics, no matter what their station in life, are called to live the evangelical vocation into which they were baptized: without compromise, but with the joy, courage, and confidence that comes from living this side of the Resurrection.

In churches today, there are ever fewer older pastors speaking into the lives of younger leaders, and fewer younger leaders feeling there is much to be learned from the experience of their elders. Street-smart wisdom is gone from training as there are many men and women preparing pastors who have never themselves pastored a church. Intriguingly, even older, more seasoned pastors yearn for insight into their task, as they remain "undiscipled" in the school of leadership. In What They Didn't Teach You in Seminary, veteran pastor James Emery White provides the kind of mentoring young pastors desperately need but cannot get from academia or leadership books. These "from the trenches" insights will help them transform their relationships with staff and parishoners, develop healthy boundaries, deliver hard truths, avoid spiritual pitfalls, use their time effectively, and much more.

Believing Faith Speaks written by Eric Dunbar and has been published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-01-29 with categories.

Faith is a gift from God, and although it is not always apparent, everyone has faith. Sadly, many people do not know how to use their faith, and what's even worse, they confuse faith with blind hope. Believing Faith Speaks is a no-nonsense guide to speaking, activating, feeding, exercising, and working your faith according to the Bible. In order to have merit, your faith must be rooted in the Rock of the Word of God. You cannot build a solid foundation of faith on the sandy ground of what you think, what you feel, or what you have heard about God. Your understanding of faith must be founded on what God says of Himself in His written Word. In Believing Faith Speaks, Author, Eric Dunbar talks about faith from the perspective of the average disciple of Christ. Believing Faith Speaks will help you understand how important it is to believe what you speak. It will also teach you how to speak what you believe, as well as teach you the importance of speaking the living Word of God to your situation. The Bible says "God has given every person the measure of faith" (Romans 12:3). That means we all have an equal measure of faith. In "Believing Faith Speaks" you will learn how to use your measure of faith to its fullest potential. You will learn how to activate, nourish, and convert mustard seed faith into awesome mountain moving faith with which you will be able to accomplish the impossible. Faith is something that every believer must learn to possess. It is the one thing that all believers will use daily to do battle against the spiritual forces of darkness. Dunbar explains the fundamentals of faith and why faith is so important to our justification. Faith is complex, but yet so simple. The simplicity of faith is that you don't have to understand faith to have faith. The complexity of faith is working something that you possess, while at the same time, not really understanding how it works. Jesus often used parables to teach kingdom truths to His disciples. The key to understanding how faith operates is revealed in the Parable of the Sower. Having faith is a lot like having a tomato seed. You don't have to understand how a tomato seed produces a tomato plant to get a tomato. God has placed the substance needed to produce a tomato within the tomato seed. When the plant has matured, it will produce tomatoes effortlessly. All you need is a tomato seed, some soil, water, and just enough faith to believe that God will make it grow. The tomato is in the seed. Likewise, everything you desire is in the seed of your faith. Hope is the seed which produces faith. The Parable of the Sower makes that very clear. The message of Believing Faith Speaks is the same message that the Apostle Paul delivered to the churches of Rome and Galatia. It is also the gospel message to the present day church. In Ephesians 2:8-9, Paul says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works." God has given us His grace to work effectively. It is important that we have good works because good works is evidence of our salvation. However, good works are not the condition of our salvation. The condition of salvation is based on grace through faith in Christ apart from works. Faith bridges the gap between the physical and spiritual words; without faith, we cannot please God. People do all kind of things to please God. But the Bible teaches us that God is pleased by what we believe rather than what we do. Abraham believed God, and God declared him righteous. God created us to commune with Him. We can only commune with God by faith. Faith is all about what you believe and your faith walk begins with what you believe about God. God's desire is that we enter into His rest. If we are to enter into God's rest we must exercise the faith of God. And since we have the same spirit of faith according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak.
