Teaching the Christian faith to children, young adults and those new to Christianity can be a daunting task. Many resources portray Jesus Christ as coming on the scene of an unfolding drama in the world, heroically reinvigorating those who believed in God, and showing us a whole new side of God. Other resources overlook the rich examples of God's work in the world in the Old Testament. Jacob's Testimony demonstrates with Scripture that salvation through Jesus Christ had been planned long before His birth and that very few of His teachings were new. An in depth examination of the Old Testament lays the groundwork for the salvation and eternal life that are now available through Jesus Christ and the power that can be ours through the Holy Spirit. An examination of the New Testament ties the theology of salvation and faith back to the Old Testament at every step of the way.Jacob's Testimony is a teaching resource for use by individuals, families, churches and small groups and has separate editions for children/youth and adults. Each chapter includes Scripture reading and discussion questions. The ideal use of Jacob's Testimony includes having a leader supervise the reader's progress through the resource. Readers will come to understand and appreciate what it means that God the Father is a “living God” and learn anew how popular accounts in the Old Testament were established by divine providence as the precursor to the advent of Jesus Christ. Leaders can purchase the separate Leader's Guide to enhance the reader's progress.

I believe that as you read this book and mediate on the words, God will grant you revelation knowledge into the truths of His Word regarding His promise to heal. This book may seem controversial to some, but to others the light will come on. Jesus said, "To you it has been given to know the secrets and mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given." For whoever has spiritual knowledge, more will be given, and he will be furnished richly so that he will have abundance; but to those who have not, even what he has will be taken away." (Matthew 13:11-12) I also believe that some will be healed while they are reading this book; while others will have their faith increased to walk out their healing and see the manifestation. Yes, and there will be those who will develop their faith to know and understand that they never have to be sick another day in their lives. Paula is a minister of worship, teacher and operates in the gift of healing. She also is a leader of dramatic dance ministries. As a result of her personal healing of a serious life threatening disease early 2005, her ministry is primarily in the area of healing. Her testimony of healing will encourage you and let you know that God is still doing what He promised and your healing is for today. Paula Struble is ordained by The Ministerial Fellowship of Spirit Life in Bradenton, Florida and lives with her husband, Dr. Donald W. Struble, President of Spirit Life Training Center in Bradenton, Florida.

The Pedagogical Possibilities Of Witnessing And Testimonies written by Marie Hållander and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-27 with Education categories.

This book explores the pedagogical possibilities of testimony and witnessing. Drawing on the work of Giorgio Agamben, this book highlights the ultimate impossibility of witnessing and testimony: testimonies do not stand outside language, history, politics, or capitalist systems. Through analysis of different aspects of representation, subjectivity and emotions, this book illustrates how testimonies can be used as a way to control student emotions, perceptions and understandings. Testimonies used within teaching can work as a way to reproduce stereotypes of suffering, and can thus consolidate and reinforce exisiting power structures and identities. By exploring these difficulties, the author argues for the value of teaching historical testimonies of suffering that recognize both the impossibilities and possibilities of witnessing and testimony. “Marie Hållander has provided an indispensable guide to re-thinking the pedagogical possibilities of witnessing and testimonies, essential reading for anyone interested in how to approach these topics both critically and pedagogically. Through a lucid theoretical synthesis, this book re-inscribes a dynamic pedagogical dimension into the topics of witnessing and testimony, which have been dominated by historians, psychologists and literary critics. Thinking through the theoretical challenges of witnessing and testimony yet using powerful examples from teaching, Hållander develops a forceful analysis that shows the profound implications of these topics for pedagogical practice.” —Michalinos Zembylas, Open University of Cyprus, Cyprus “Timely and topical, this fascinating book complicates approaches to witnessing, suffering and testimony without diminishing the pedagogical, historical and political significance of sharing, or harkening to, one’s experience. It is a powerful, original and valuable contribution in its field, not only because it weaves its themes in a diligent, reflective and critical manner, but also because it has its own, unique perspective and sensibilities, as these emerge from erudite combination of narrative, pedagogy and philosophy.” —Marianna Papastephanou, University of Cyprus, Cyprus

In this sequel to his internationally acclaimed classic, The Call to Teach, David Hansen revisits the idea of teaching as a calling in light of contemporary expectations in education. Reimagining The Call to Teach brings to life an ethical approach to teaching that is informed by an understanding of teachingÕs great purpose: to help the next generation forge a spirit of mutual care and concern while supporting each studentÕs distinctive way of being in the world. Hansen juxtaposes testimony from public school educators with ideas and examples drawn from philosophy, teacher education, research on teaching, literature, and other arts. He demonstrates that, despite pressing structural challenges in the educational system, teachers can bring their calling to life by supporting one another and by engaging in philosophical inquiry and self-cultivation. Rendered with Hansen’s customary eloquence, this dynamic book will be of interest to all who care about the dignity of teachers and teaching in our time. Book Features: Provides a fresh and inspiring account of teaching as a calling.Draws creatively on a wide-range of sources, including extensive testimony from teachers.Focuses on an ethical approach to working with teachers called “bearing witness.”Highlights the important place of philosophy in being a teacher and a teacher educator. The Letter to Philemon is one of the most beautiful rhetorical letters written by Paul—and yet, at the same time, perhaps the most underread letter in the New Testament. Paul wrote this letter out of love, hoping to persuade the slave master Philemon to choose compassion rather than follow the typical Roman attitudes towards slaves; to treat Onesimus as a brother in Christ rather than as an inferior, subhuman chattel. This letter is not only theologically important but also important in a practical sense because it is more than mere words—it is a testimony. In order for readers to better appreciate the true depth of the meanings in the letter, this book is written in a rather creative way. Each chapter begins with a selected scene from the movie Les Misérables, to introduce the key theme of the chapter. Then the author will interpret the details of the text of the letter and the other relevant texts in the Pauline corpus. The final section of each chapter is a creative story, based on the text and historical context. The purpose of inventing these creative stories is to help readers better grasp the historical context and, most importantly, the rhetoric in the letter.
