Research has shown that social and emotional learning are important aspects of early childhood development. Reports have surfaced however, which show that young students are entering Kindergarten without the necessary social and emotional skills in place to assist in helping them succeed. Several evidence-based studies have shown positive outcomes for students explicitly taught social and emotional skills. This project aids early childhood educators by helping them understand social and emotional components, sharing theories and rationale for teaching these skills to young children, and highlighting evidence-based social emotional curricula that my help teachers in developing these important skills in young learners.
