Sindhis are among the few people who retained their national identity for five thousand years. Their journey from ancient times to present era is tortuous with episodes of glory and power, alternating with periods of occupation and subjugation. Sindh was the last Indian states which were occupied by the British in the background of increasing fear of a Russian advance on India. In 1947, the United Kingdom of Great Britain decided to withdraw from India but in order to safeguard its vital economic, political and strategic interests in the region, created a client state of Pakistan. Islam was used as a tool in the division of India. Sindhis like many other nations were merged into the religious state of Pakistan. Since the merger, it is a tale of humiliations, insults and all kind of exploitative and subjugating mechanization which they are facing. Upholding the historic traditions of resisting alien rule, Sindhis have been struggling in various ways for regaining their sovereignty. The book is a historical narrative of Sindhi struggle for the achievement of a dignified and honourable existence.

Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu is one of the major works of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī, and a mainstay of the Gauḍiya Vaiṣṇava sampradāya. Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī has admitted that it may be difficult for readers to understand portions of the text, and therefore wrote a commentary to elucidate certain points. Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī has written an additional commentary. In the Eastern Section, Jīva’s complete commentary has been translated, and Viśvanātha’s commentary has been fully translated with the exception of portions which are identical to Jīva’s commentary. The other Sections in general have less extensive commentaries. For these portions Jīva’s commentary has been fully translated and Viśvanātha’s has been translated where additional points are made. In some cases he explains the meaning of the verses quoted and these have simply been incorporated in the translation of the verse without translating the commentary.

In the sixteenth century, the saint and scholar Sri Caitanya set in motion a wave of devotion to Krishna that began in eastern India and has now found its way around the world. Caitanya taught that the highest aim of life is to develop selfless love for God Krishna, the blue-hued cowherd boy who spoke the Bhagavad Gita. Although only a handful of poetry is attributed to Caitanya, his devotional theology was expounded and systematized by his followers in a vast array of poetical, philosophical, and ritual literature. This book provides a thematic study of Caitanya Vaishnava philosophy, introducing key thinkers and ideas in the early tradition, using Sanskrit and Bengali sources that have seldom been studied in English. The book addresses major areas of the tradition, including epistemology, ontology, aesthetics, ethics, and history, and every chapter includes relevant readings from primary sources.
