All that Jim Steele remembers of the disappearance of Lady Mary Danton and her young daughter was the commotion surrounding their large fortune. Vanished without a trace, the two were never found and the mystery was left unsolved. But 20 years on, the Danton fortune is about to fall into the hands of Digby Groat. And this doesn’t sound quite right - not to Jim Steele. With all the courage he can muster, Jim is about to dig a little deeper, uncovering some uneasy secrets along the way. Perfect for thrill-seeking fans, Edgar Wallace’s ‘Blue Hand’ is the ideal suspenseful read, straight from the mind of the man behind Carl Denham’s blockbuster hit ‘King Kong’ Edgar Wallace (1875-1932) was an English writer so prolific, that his publisher claimed that he was responsible for a quarter of all books sold in England. An author, journalist and poet, Wallace wrote countless novels, short stories, screenplays, and stage plays, along with historical non-fiction. His work has been adapted into more than 160 films. In 1932, Wallace died suddenly in Hollywood, during the initial drafting of his most famous work, ‘King Kong’.

Yurei Attack! is a nightmare-inducing one-stop guide to Japan's traditional ghosts and spirits. Surviving encounters with angry ghosts and sexy spectres. Haunted places. Dangerous games and how to play them. And more importantly, a guided tour of what awaits in the world of the dead. Yurei is the Japanese word for "ghost." It's as simple as that. They are the souls of dead people, unable--or unwilling--to shuffle off this mortal coil. Yurei are many things, but "friendly" isn't the first word that comes to mind. Not every yurei is dangerous, but they are all driven by emotions so uncontrollably powerful that they have taken on a life of their own: rage, sadness, devotion, a desire for revenge, or even the firm belief that they are still alive. This book, the third in the authors' bestselling Attack! series, after Yokai Attack! and Ninja Attack! gives detailed information on 39 of the creepiest yurei stalking Japan, along with detailed histories and defensive tactics should you have the misfortune to encounter one. Japanese ghosts include: Oiwa, The Horror of Yotsuya Otsuyu, The Tale of the Peony Lantern The Lady Rokujo, The Tale of Genji Isora, Tales of Moonlight and Rain Orui, The Depths of Kasane Book 3 of 3 in the Yokai Attack! series. Others include Ninja Attack! and Yokai Attack!.

Chaucerian Fiction written by Robert B. Burlin and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-03-08 with Literary Criticism categories.

By analyzing Chaucer's major poetic works, Robert Burlin succeeds in isolating thematic undercurrents with a bearing on the poet's process of composition. He is thus able to relate individual poems to Chaucer's view of himself as a writer, and to assess the internal evidence for a Chaucerian theory of fiction. Professor Burlin contends that a logic underlies Chaucer's aesthetic assumptions whose imaginative configuration appears both simple and inevitable in the context of his poetic development. The author first explores possible antecedents for the terms "experience" and auctoritee, and shows that this common antinomy provides the basis for dividing the poems into three groups. In the "poetic fictions," Chaucer speculates on the value of poetic activity, on the sources of its affect, and on its validity as a means of apprehension. The "philosophic fictions" concentrate on the epistemological aspect of literary activity. In a final group of poems, termed "psychological fictions," the poet explores the speaker's unspoken motives, as well as his pronounced intentions, in telling a tale. Originally published in 1977. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.
