En este libro, influido por los retos que nos plantea el contexto condicionante del COVID19, se unen diversas voces de la filosofía jurídica española, para reflexionar sobre algunos temas cruciales del mundo del derecho que son fundamentales para intentar gestionar mejor la trágica y dramática realidad planetaria que nos ha ocasionado la pandemia: desde la demanda del derecho a una existencia digna junto con el valor y el principio de solidaridad, pasando por una propuesta de una teoría del conflicto con las estrategias de negociación y acuerdos consensuales, así como la urgencia de que la cultura jurídica, ante el nuevo contexto establecido por la globalización, incorpore unos paradigmas basados en el pluralismo jurídico frente a la insuficiencia del viejo paradigma monista, además de la necesidad de trabajar para establecer un derecho cosmopolita, para terminar con las exigencias de las políticas ambientales de la UE y la denuncia de algunos de los demonios que acechan a los derechos humanos. Con conciencia humanista y poniendo especial atención a los colectivos más vulnerables y en situación de precariedad existencial, se analizan, reflexionan e interrogan sobre diversos y variados problemas que los contextos pandémico y pos-pandémico nos plantean e interpelan en torno a la realidad del derecho y algunas de sus regiones confines (política, economía, historia, etc.). Se ofrece un insumo variado de mapas mentales y conceptuales con los que poder entender, de una manera más ubicada y profunda, este viral mundo convulso y poder obtener regulaciones con la que se mejoren las condiciones de vida de toda la humanidad.

Despite being contemporaries, Walter Benjamin and Martin Heidegger never directly engaged with one another. Yet, Hannah Arendt, who knew both men, pointed out common ground between the two. Both were concerned with the destruction of metaphysics, the development of a new way of reading and understanding literature and art, and the formulation of radical theories about time and history. On the other hand, their life trajectories and political commitments were radically different. In a 1930 letter, Benjamin told a friend that he had been reading Heidegger and that if the two were to engage with one another, "sparks will fly." Acknowledging both their affinities and points of conflict, this volume stages that confrontation, focusing in particular on temporality, Romanticism, and politics in their work.

The concept of global justice makes visible how we citizens of affluent countries are potentially implicated in the horrors so many must endure in the so-called less developed countries. Distinct conceptions of global justice differ in their specific criteria of global justice. However, they agree that the touchstone is how well our global institutional order is doing, compared to its feasible alternatives, in regard to the fundamental human interests that matter from a moral point of view. We are responsible for global regimes such as the global trading system and the rules governing military interventions. These institutional arrangements affect human beings worldwide, for instance by shaping the options and incentives of governments and corporations. Alternative paths of globalization would have differed in how much violence, oppression, and extreme poverty they engender. And global institutional reforms could greatly enhance human rights fullfillment in the future. The importance of this global justice approach reaches well beyond philosophy. It enables ordinary citizens to understand their options and responsibility for global institutional factors, and it challenges social scientists to address the causes of poverty and hunger that act across borders. The present volume addresses four main topics regarding global justice: The normative grounds for claims regarding the global institutional order, the substantive normative principles for a legitimate global order, the roles of legal human rights standards, and some institutional arrangements that may make the present world order less unjust.
