Luigi Lisi dà vita a un testo onirico, un percorso di anime in divenire che, attraverso gli eventi – e i tormenti – della vita in una particolare e complessa realtà storica, l’epoca bizantina, si dimostrano rappresentazioni ideali di una scoperta di sé oltre il tempo e lo spazio. Quelle che qui troviamo artisticamente composte sono parole scelte con cura e grazia a sondare aspetti spesso ignoti perfino al loro portatore, in un’atmosfera rarefatta di misticismo e a tratti brutalità, in una fusione inebriante e al contempo conturbante. Luigi Lisi nasce a Bari l’11 novembre del 1968. Mostra fin dalla tenera età una spiccata sensibilità introspettiva, estetica e contemplativa, nonché una fervida immaginazione. Già nella sua fase preadolescenziale comincia a scrivere poesie e a interessarsi al contempo di argomenti religiosi, filosofici, morali, storici, geografici, artistici, scientifici. Frequenta il Liceo classico “Socrate” a Bari e si diploma nel 1987. Dopo essersi iscritto alla facoltà di Chimica Farmaceutica, opta per il cambio di corso e frequenta l’indirizzo Storico-artistico della Facoltà di Lettere, prima per due anni a “La Sapienza” di Roma (dove conosce e studia l’arte bizantina), poi presso l’Università “Aldo Moro” della sua stessa città, dove si laurea qualche anno dopo con una tesi di Storia Bizantina sui Santi mirobliti. Nel frattempo consegue anche il diploma del liceo socio-pedagogico e comincia a insegnare in una scuola privata nella Primaria per tre anni e poi, dopo la Laurea, nella scuola secondaria per altri 27 anni fino a oggi. Vive a Bari, è sposato e ha 4 figli. Dal 2012 al 2018 ha studiato Antropologia Personalistica Esistenziale e Sophianalisi a Taranto, nel Centro per lo Sviluppo della Persona, collegato alla Sophia University of Rome del professor Antonio Mercurio. Questa è la sua prima pubblicazione.

Al presente anno rapportò il cardinal Baronio , e dopo lui Camillo Pellegrino , il principio del regno di Grimoaldo. Ma sapendo noi da Paolo Diacono , che succedette l'assedio di Benevento prima che l'imperador Costante venisse a Roma, ed essendo egli arrivato a Roma nel dì cinque di luglio di quest'anno, correndo l'indizione sesta, dopo essere stato presso Benevento, come troviamo asserito anche da Anastasio per conseguente bisogna supporre che Grimoaldo nel precedente anno 662 dopo il mese di luglio occupasse il regno dei Longobardi (al che occorse non poco tempo), e che nel presente poi venisse da Pavia in soccorso dell'assediata suddetta città di Benevento.

The Anatolian peninsula, one of the oldest seats of civilization, has been ruled by a succession of great powers, including the Romans and their successors in the East, the Byzantines. Its Islamic era began in 1071, when the Seljuk Turks, nomads from Central Asia who had already taken control of Persia, defeated the Byzantine army at Manzikert and moved west, creating a new sultanate in Anatolia. The Seljuks were eventually succeeded in this region by the Ottoman Turks, who crossed the Bosphorus to conquer an exhausted Constantinople in 1453, and went on to extend their power far beyond the borders of modern Turkey, establishing an empire that endured until the early twentieth century. Ruling over a land that had always been at the crossroads of east and west, these Islamic dynasties developed a cosmopolitan art and architecture. As art historian Giovanni Curatola demonstrates in this insightful new book, they combined elements of the prestigious Persian style and memories of their nomadic past with local Mediterranean traditions, and also adopted local building materials, such as stone and wood. Curatola introduces us first to the new types of buildings introduced by the Seljuks?like the caravansary and the türbe, or mausoleum?and then to the sophisticated architectural achievements of the Ottomans, which culminated in the great domed mosques constructed by the master builder Mimar Sinan (d. 1588). He also traces the history of the decorative arts in Turkey, which included lavishly ornamented carpets, manuscripts, armor, and ceramics.
