O presente livro visa a apresentar e discutir o Caso Alyne Pimentel x Brasil. Trata-se do primeiro caso em que o Brasil foi levado ao Sistema Global de Proteção aos Direitos Humanos e responsabilizado. O caso discute o tratamento de saúde e a morte de Alyne da Silva Pimentel Teixeira, mulher negra, moradora da periferia que, em 2002, grávida, não recebeu o tratamento de saúde digno e adequado e, após uma sucessão de erros, veio a óbito. O Brasil foi representado perante o Comitê CEDAW, órgão de proteção dos Direitos Humanos das Mulheres, em 2007, após anos de morosidade junto ao Poder Judiciário Interno. Em 2011, o Brasil foi considerado responsável pela morte de Alyne. O que o caso nos conta é que a morte materna é violação de Direitos Humanos e não deve ser vista como falha isolada. Mas o caso Alyne x Brasil também demonstra que ser mulher e negra no Estado brasileiro aumenta o risco de morte em diversas circunstâncias, inclusive durante a gestação. Assim, com a perspectiva da interseccionalidade e partindo de um referencial teórico feminista, o presente livro parte da teoria do direito à saúde, dos direitos reprodutivos e do direito da antidiscriminação para tentar compreender em que medida o caso Alyne Pimentel impactou as políticas públicas de saúde materna no Brasil.

Preface Today the world is marked by increasing complexity, where the boundaries between disciplines become increasingly interconnected. A obra é composta por 16 textos que abordam as questões de gênero, sexualidade e diversidade na educação básica, na formação docente inicial e continuada, no currículo, na educação de forma geral, na perspectiva de uma educação democrática e não violenta, destacando os corpos trans, a proteção à saúde da população LGBTQIAPN+ e a violência contra meninas e mulheres.
