Sandplay reprezintă o abordare terapeutică eficientă și accesibilă de vindecare a persoanei în întregul ei. Bazându-se pe vaste cunoștințe de mitologie și folclor, dar mai cu seamă pe dezvoltările analizei jungiene, autoarea explică felul în care imaginile în nisip contribuie la autoreglarea psihicului, iar interpretarea simbolurilor spațiale ajută la clarificarea și depășirea blocajelor interioare. La fel ca pictura, analiza viselor sau imaginația activă, modelarea în nisip are meritul de a aduce într-un spațiu imaginar procese inconștiente și emoții nespuse, care sunt mult mai greu de accesat în urma unei simple „cure prin vorbire“. Prin coimplicarea trup și suflet în jurul cutiei cu nisip, analistul și pacientul obțin o imagine concretă a evoluției relației terapeutice, dar mai ales descătușează capacitatea pacientului de autovindecare. Volumul include o serie de istorii de caz, dar și ilustrații fotografice și sfaturi practice pentru psihologii care sunt tot mai interesați de metoda sandplay. This book examines the scientific contribution and increasing relevance of the Person-Centered Approach (PCA) in psychotherapy. The direction taken in the book is to provide readers with a multidisciplinary and multi-perspective view as well as practical applications.
