TERRORES NOCTURNOS inició el 12 de julio de 2020 como un podcast de relatos de horror sonorizados con música y efectos de sonido apropósito de la narración. El objetivo de este proyecto surgió por retarme a escribir historias de terror, un campo que quise abordar desde joven, pero siempre con malos resultados. Soy un amante del terror, me encanta escuchar y leer cuentos siniestros, macabros. En YouTube encontré muchos canales con esta temática, que a pesar de su éxito en tanto suscriptores, como “Relatos de la noche,” “Voces anónimas”, “Leyendas legendarias”, “Dross”, “Relatos de Horror”, “Alguien te observa en la oscuridad”, “Guerrero de Luz”, entre otros, no cumplieron mis expectativas, ya sea por la articulación de la voz, lo plano de las historias, la pobreza narrativa y la repetición temática. Por ello decidí emprender este podcast, el cual distribuí en diversas plataformas. Tras publicar el primer relato, breve, invité a participar de este proyecto a todos quienes me escucharan enviándome sus historias para sonorizarlas, aunque sin resultados. Nadie me escribió. Así que comencé a escribir y escribir más, siempre apartándome de los temas generalizados por los demás canales antes citados. Los cuentos contenidos en este volumen comprenden el terror y la fantasía, siempre con un final abierto para que sea el lector quien imagine qué sucedió con los personajes que propongo. Uno que otro es real, como el titulado “13 de octubre”, es un suceso que viví con un amigo que conocí en la universidad; “Medusas” es el mismo caso, las palabras allí vertidas ha sido objetivadas en esa narración brindada a mí en confesión por una amiga de la universidad. El resto de textos son fruto de mi imaginación. Estimado lector, en el libro que tiene delante de usted no hallará fantasmas, aparecidos, brujería, poseídos, sino lo imposible y al mismo tiempo lo probable, se dará cuenta de que no sólo es narrar por narrar, por contar tal o cual historia, sino que entre las líneas de mis historias encontrará ambientes sórdidos, extraños, repugnantes, que incluso podrían hacerlo sentir ofendido. De antemano le ofrezco disculpas y le agradezco por leerme, pues lo aquí expuesto tiene enfoques sociales, opiniones personales, filosóficas, es mi rostro, y el medio de mostrarlo es el terror.

Had it been anybody but Tessie I should not have bothered my head about scruples. For it did not occur to me to sacrifice Tessie as I would have sacrificed a woman of the world. I looked the future squarely in the face and saw the several probable endings to the affair. She would either tire of the whole thing, or become so unhappy that I should have either to marry her or go away. If I married her we would be unhappy. I with a wife unsuited to me, and she with a husband unsuitable for any woman. For my past life could scarcely entitle me to marry. If I went away she might either fall ill, recover, and marry some Eddie Burke, or she might recklessly or deliberately go and do something foolish. On the other hand if she tired of me, then her whole life would be before her with beautiful vistas of Eddie Burkes and marriage rings and twins and Harlem flats and Heaven knows what. As I strolled along through the trees by the Washington Arch, I decided that she should find a substantial friend in me anyway and the future could take care of itself. Then I went into the house and put on my evening dress for the little faintly perfumed note on my dresser said, “Have a cab at the stage door at eleven,” and the note was signed “Edith Carmichael, Metropolitan Theater, June 19th, 189—.”
