Teori konvergensi ini memang dapat menjembatani dan memberikan sintesis antara aliran nativisme dan aliran empirisme, namun sebenarnya aliran ini tidak memiliki kerangka filosofis sendiri tentang hakikat manusia. Ia tiba-tiba muncul dan menetralisir antara kedua belah pihak yang bertentangan. Apabila dugaan ini benar, berarti keunggulan yang terdapat pada aliran konvergensi mesti disertai dengan kelemahan-kelemahan yang dimiliki kedua aliran di atas. Sebab ia hanya mengkonvergensikan teori tanpa mengkaji ulang kontruksi filosofisnya. Jika konvergensi hanya mengkonvergensikan nativisme dan empirisme, tanpa membangun filosofinya terlebih dahulu. Maka benar jika aliran kovergensi berpendapat bahwa bakat tidak bisa berkembang tanpa dipengaruhi lingkungan yang mendukung. Pendapat ini menunjukkan bahwa bakat tersebut pasif dalam perkembangan, ia baru akan muncul bila distimulan. Sementara dalam Islam bawaan yang disebut dengan fitrah bersifat dinamis, aktif dan tidak hilang.
