This third volume continues to set the standard in the field, as originally defined by the best-selling two-volume set 'Intermetallic Compounds - Principles and Practice'. With contributions from 72 authors from 14 different countries, this book introduces a broad range of new topics including: new intermetallic families, new means of assessment of bonding and stability, new properties and phenomena, new applications, new practical processes and new research techniques. * Stand-alone chapters set out in a manner that is meaningful to non-specialists, progressing to include knowledge useful to experts * New, fully revised, and updated chapters on areas of intense research activity or great importance * Providing definitions of intermetallic families, intended to assist all readers * Written for clarity, consistency and thoroughness * Full and up-to-date referencing to the literature * Critical assessments of the state of the subject * Acronym list consolidating new entries with those compiled for the two earlier volumes As with Volumes 1 and 2, this is an invaluable aid to both scientists and engineers. Core reading for those who are starting research on intermetallics, and for those who wish to exploit the unique properties of intermetallics in practical applications.

Crystallographic Texture Of Materials written by Satyam Suwas and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-08-26 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Providing a comprehensive and invaluable overview of the basics of crystallographic textures and their industrial applications, this book covers a broad range of both structural and functional materials. It introduces the existing methods of representation in an accessible manner and presents a thorough overview of existing knowledge on texture of metallic materials. Texture analysis has widespread use in many industries, and provides crucial input towards the development of new materials and products. There has been rapid growth in the science and art of texture analysis in the last few decades. Other topics addressed within this book include recent research on texture in thin films and non-metals, and the dependence of material properties on texture, and texture control in some engineering materials. This book constitutes an invaluable reference text for researchers and professionals working on texture analysis in metallurgy, materials science and engineering, physics and geology. By using content selectively, it is also highly accessible to undergraduate students.

Recrystallization And Related Annealing Phenomena written by F.J. Humphreys and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The annealing of deformed materials is of both technological importance and scientific interest. The phenomena have been most widely studied in metals, although they occur in all crystalline materials such as the natural deformation of rocks and the processing of technical ceramics. Research is mainly driven by the requirements of industry, and where appropriate, the book discusses the extent to which we are able to formulate quantitative, physically-based models which can be applied to metal-forming processes. The subjects treated in this book are all active research areas, and form a major part of at least four regular international conference series. However, there have only been two monographs published in recent times on the subject of recrystallization, the latest nearly 20 years ago. Since that time, considerable advances have been made, both in our understanding of the subject and in the techniques available to the researcher. The book covers recovery, recrystallization and grain growth in depth including specific chapters on ordered materials, two-phase alloys, annealing textures and annealing during and after hot working. Also contained are treatments of the deformed state and the structure and mobility of grain boundaries, technologically important examples and a chapter on computer simulation and modelling. The book provides a scientific treatment of the subject for researchers or students in Materials Science, Metallurgy and related disciplines, who require a more detailed coverage than is found in textbooks on physical metallurgy, and a more coherent treatment than will be found in the many conference proceedings and review articles.
