Thanks for the Mammaries is a raw, uncensored tale of the author’s journey through breast cancer. From initial diagnosis at age 37, to chemotherapy, and on to life after surgery, author Sarah Demmon provides a humorous and sometimes warped perspective into what to expect from doctors, friends, and society. In addition to her personal journey, the book also contains references and terminology that will aid the reader. A Breast Cancer Survivor’s Story is a must-read for the newly diagnosed. “When I was diagnosed, I found that when I looked up literature about the disease, it was either overly emotional or highly technical. Everyone is told, ‘Go read Lance Armstrong’s book.’ In reality, there is little to relate in that book to the average individual dealing with cancer. I found myself blindsided, even as a scientist. I decided that I would write a true, raw tale that can impart some guidance to the newly diagnosed, so that hopefully they do not have to go through the bumps that I did.”

Mammography Screening written by Peter Gotzsche and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-06-29 with Medical categories.

'This book gives plenty of examples of ad hominem attacks, intimidation, slander, threats of litigation, deception, dishonesty, lies and other violations of good scientific practice. For some years I kept a folder labeled Dishonesty in breast cancer screening on top of my filing cabinet, storing articles and letters to the editor that contained statements I knew were dishonest. Eventually I gave up on the idea of writing a paper about this collection, as the number of examples quickly exceeded what could be contained in a single article.' From the Introduction The most effective way to decrease women's risk of becoming a breast cancer patient is to avoid attending screening. Mammography screening is one of the greatest controversies in healthcare, and the extent to which some scientists have sacrificed sound scientific principles in order to arrive at politically acceptable results in their research is extraordinary. In contrast, neutral observers increasingly find that the benefit has been much oversold and that the harms are much greater than previously believed. This groundbreaking book takes an evidence-based, critical look at the scientific disputes and the information provided to women by governments and cancer charities. It also explains why mammography screening is unlikely to be effective today. All health professionals and members of the public will find these revelations disturbingly illuminating. It will radically transform the way healthcare policy makers view mammography screening in the future. 'If Peter Gotzsche did not exist, there would be a need to invent him ...It may still take time for the limitations and harms of screening to be properly acknowledged and for women to be enabled to make adequately informed decisions. When this happens, it will be almost entirely due to the intellectual rigour and determination of Peter Gotzsche.' From the Foreword by Iona Heath, President, RCGP 'If you care about breast cancer, and we all should, you must read this book. Breast cancer is complex and we cannot afford to rely on the popular media, or on information from marketing campaigns from those who are invested in screening. We need to question and to understand. The story that Peter tells matters very much.' From the Foreword by Fran Visco, President, National Breast Cancer Coalition

Over the years, I believe that I have heard every negative description possible regarding the mammogram process. It became very apparent to me that this process is still not completely understood by most women. In light of this, I decided to create a very positive enlightening way of guiding a woman through it from start to finish. I have used this very same technique with my own patients and found it to be very successful for them. In creating this guide book I had two important goals to accomplish. My first goal is to help every woman understand this life saving process and to learn to take control of the their bodies now. The concepts that I personally use on my own patients are so simplistic that even a young child would understand them. It has always been my belief that the more you understand this process, the easier it becomes for you to accept it. And you will, once you have finished reading this book. The second goal is something we need to accomplish together. We live in troubling times. The loss of jobs and health insurance that came with it has affected so many woman today. I have become very concerned for them. So much so, that I will be donating 50% of the proceeds made from this book to help these woman to get this life saving procedure too. These funds will be available only to non-profit facilities. This guide is a win-win process for us all. I firmly believe that this mammogram guide will finally plant the seed of positive change, which in my estimation, has been so very long overdue. I thank you in advance for you greatly needed support in this endeavor. Carol
