C S Lewis readers will identify the main title of this new book: Melvin Tinker uses Lewis's prescient fiction work as a launchpad for a fascinating look at the rapidly changing worldview of Western civilization. Too often books dealing with these issues are academically inclined and not accessible by the ordinary reader: that is not the case here. Based on a lecture delivered at GAFCON in June 2018, this book will stimulate thinking and open the eyes of Christians to the dangers of the worldview relentlessly promoted by the media.

In 2018 EP published the original That Hideous Strength: how the West was lost; the book originated as lecture notes author Melvin Tinker prepared for a conference in Jerusalem that year. That edition deliberately had no footnotes and was as compact as possible to appeal to a wide audience. As well as unpacking in more detail some of the ideas of cultural Marxists and the way their strategies are being worked out in our society, the author has also sought to put more flesh on what the Church's response might look like by drawing attention to what has been called 'the Benedict Option' and developing the concept proposed by Charles Taylor"€"the 'social imaginary.' This version includes a Postscript on the rise of 'Black Lives Matter' following the death of George Floyd.

"She had begun by dreaming simply of a face. Its expression was frightening because it was frightened. The face belonged to a man who was sitting hunched up in one corner of a little square room with white-washed walls - waiting, she thought, for those who had him in their power to come in and do something horrible to him. At last the door was opened...She could not make out what the visitor was proposing to him, but she did discover that the prisoner was under sentence of death. Whatever the visitor was offering him was something that frightened him more than that. The visitor, still smiling his cold smile, unscrewed the prisoner's head and took it away. Then all became confused." "The third novel in C.S. Lewis's classic sci-fi trilogy begins with Jane Studdock's horrific nightmare. The next morning she sees the same face in a newspaper - a brilliant French scientist guillotined for poisoning his wife. Jane has the growing feeling that she is being warned of something real and sinister. Her husband, Mark, meanwhile, is drawn into the National Institute for Co-ordinated Experiments, which is engaged in a plan to control human life."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Hidden Agender written by Gerard Casey and has been published by Andrews UK Limited this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-19 with Family & Relationships categories.

In Hidden Agender, Gerard Casey develops a timely and provocative defence of free speech and toleration against the transgenderist ideology that has infiltrated so much of the media, the political establishment and the law. Opposing ideas, not individuals, Hidden Agender provides a compelling critique of the transgender ideologists and trans activists, and the new reactionary form of legal intolerance of our right to free thought and free speech. As a libertarian, Casey believes that we should be free to say and do whatever we wish provided that, in so doing, we do not perpetrate violence, or threaten to perpetrate violence, against the person or property of another. The fundamental objection is rather to individuals being forced, on pain of legal or social sanctions, to believe (or to pretend to believe) what to them is patently false, namely, that a man can become a woman or a woman a man, and to be legally obliged to treat those who claim to have transitioned from one sex to another as if they really had managed to do so. Drawing on extensive research, both scientific and anecdotal, Hidden Agender is a robust defence of free speech and tolerance against the combined forces of prejudice, wokeness and legal intimidation.

The Virgin And The Grail written by Joseph Goering and has been published by Yale University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-10-01 with Literary Criticism categories.

Some fifty years before Chrétien de Troyes wrote what is probably the first and certainly the most influential story of the Holy Grail, images of the Virgin Mary with a simple but radiant bowl (called a “grail” in local dialect) appeared in churches in the Spanish Pyrenees. In this fascinating book, Joseph Goering explores the links between these sacred images and the origins of one of the West’s most enduring legends. While tracing the early history of the grail, Goering looks back to the Pyrenean religious paintings and argues that they were the original inspiration of the grail legend. He explains how storytellers in northern France could have learned of these paintings and how the enigmatic “grail” in the hands of the Virgin came to form the centerpiece of a story about a knight in King Arthur’s court. Part of the allure of the grail, Goering argues, was that neither Chrétien nor his audience knew exactly what it represented or why it was so important. And out of the attempts to answer those questions the literature of the Holy Grail was born.

C.S. Lewis's Ransom Trilogy, better known as "the Space Trilogy", is a much-neglected and yet critically important part of Lewis' works. It has captivated and bewildered readers since its publication, and though hundreds of books about Lewis have been written, few seek to navigate the maze that is Lewis's "space-travel story." These books are a distillation in novel form of one of Lewis' favorite subjects, a subject whose melody is woven into almost everything that Lewis ever wrote: the medieval model of the cosmos. Deeper Heaven is a guide and companion through the magical web of medieval cosmology, ancient myth, and critique of modern philosophies that makes up the oft-maligned "Space Trilogy." A student and teacher of literature and history herself, Christiana Hale will walk you through the Trilogy one step at a time, with eyes fixed where Lewis himself fixed his: on Deep Heaven and beyond. In the process, many questions will be answered: What does Christ have to do with Jupiter? Why does Lewis care so much about the medieval conception of the heavens? Why should we? And, perhaps the most puzzling question of all: why is Merlin in That Hideous Strength?
