This book, through combinations of illustrations and wording, is designed to safely inform any individual interested in acquiring the safest and correct methods in learning how to weld in any of the four methods shown. With over 50 years in the field of welding I have come across many methods for quickly learning how to weld. Unfortunately there are those who have used the method of just seeing something done is all they need to know. This is wrong! You must first know the complete correct methods required, before acquiring the ability. Smart individuals know and understand in advance what the results are of what they are about to do. If in doubt about anything, never be afraid to question what you have seen or are being asked to do!

Arc welding is one of the most popular types of welding methods. An electric arc is created between metal and an electrode, forming a puddle where additional welding filler material can be added. There are several kinds of arc welding that include Stick, MIG, Flux-cored Arc, Submerged Arc, and TIG. Welding methods such as MIG use a shielding gas in order to protect the weld, though a shielding gas is not mandatory for every kind of welding, as is the case with Stick welding. Now learn metalworking techniques from the 1940s that have been almost forgotten. -Wiping joints on lead pipes. -Soldering aluminum. -Brazing. -Arc welding.

Welding is the process of fabrication that fuses two or more parts together by the application of heat, or pressure, or both, joining as the parts cool. There are different kinds of welding processes. Welding is usually done on metals and thermoplastics. Some of the major welding techniques include forge welding, arc welding, thermochemical welding, resistance welding, and electron-beam welding. Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) is a type of arc welding technique wherein an electric arc is struck between the metallic electrode and the work piece, and tiny globules of molten metal are transferred from the metal electrode to the weld joint. Thermochemical welding works on the principle of gas welding. In this process, heat is supplied by burning acetylene in oxygen to provide an intense, closely controlled flame. Aluminothermic (thermite) joining is another thermochemical process used for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This process is appropriate for joining sections with large, compact cross sections. This book details various researches that have been conducted in relation to welding. Its elaborate content will aid the readers in thoroughly understanding the subject.

The welding handbook is a comprehensive guide to all things welding. Each section provides information for everyone from students who need to understand the basics to t experienced welders looking for a quick reference. So let's get down to the basics and some questions and answers that provide a good place to start when trying to get into the world of welding. It is assumed that the reader already possesses at least the most basic knowledge of mechanical materials (chemistry, physics, electricity), although the bigger part of the book can be followed without any special previous knowledge or higher education. The book is mostly based on the metric system of units.
