The saga of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar is the tale of origin for all three monotheistic faiths. Abraham must choose between two wives who have borne him two sons. One wife and son will share in his wealth and status, while the other two are exiled into the desert. Long a cornerstone of Western anxiety, the story chronicles a very famous and troubled family, and sheds light on the ongoing conflict between the Judeo-Christian and Islamic worlds. How did this ancient story become one of the least understood and most frequently misinterpreted of our cultural myths? Gordon explores this legendary love triangle to give us a startling perspective on three biblical characters who -- with their jealousies, passions, and doubts -- actually behave like human beings. The Woman Who Named God is a compelling, smart, and provocative take on one of the Bible's most intriguing and troubling love stories.

ABRAHAMIC CULT: WHAT, WHY AND HOW? Origin and history: Abraham always describes as father of three religions i.e. Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each one has a claim as a true follower of Abraham's faith. Before any further discussion on Abrahamic faith, I would like to describe why I took the word 'cult' rather than religion for Abrahamic faith? What are the characteristics of cult which are assimilate with Abrahamic faith? A cult is a religious group with novel religious beliefs and high degree of tension with the surrounding society. It is difficult to find any perfect definition of 'cult' but some characteristics are clearly found in cult practices. These are so similar with the Abrahamic faith. Excessive glorification of the leader is one of main point of cultic practices. There is a belief that leader can't be wrong. Leader is omniscience personality. If we compare these characteristics with prophetic concepts of Abraham's faith, it is so identical. One more important thing is that voice of dissent, questioning and doubt are discouraged and punished. Belief that the leader and group has only method of discovering final knowledge or truth in all subjects. In these practices only ends justify the means. There are hidden agendas behind potential recruits. Recruits and followers are not told everything about leaders and group's inner circle. Aggressive conversion and recruitment practices are found in cults. These are some universally accepted characteristics of the cult which are easily found in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. When Abraham first appeared in history at genesis his age was almost ninety three years. Abraham has no past and no mother. Genesis 2nd verse 26: "when Terah had lived seventy years, become the father of Abraham, Nahor and Haran." This was the first introduction about Abraham in genesis which told us that the Terah was the father of Abraham. There is an interesting fact that in beginning his name was Abram not Abraham. The name Abram Hebrew means 'the father of exalted' or 'almighty father.' Abram abandon his father and native land in the age of seventy five. He.

Religion And Morality written by Abraham Sagi and has been published by Rodopi this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Philosophy categories.

Religion and Morality seeks to answer two fundamental questions regarding the relation between religion and morality. The first is the puzzle posed by Socrates, the so-called 'Euthyphro dilemma', which asks: is morality valuable by virtue of its intrinsic importance and worth, or is morality valuable because, and only because, God approves it and commands us to follow its dictates? The second question is raised by Kierkegaard in Fear and Trembling. He asks: Is a conflict between religion and morality possible? Does God ever demand that we neglect our moral commitments? The discussion on these questions is divided into three parts. In the first two parts, we discuss the idea that morality depends on religion. The authors distinguish two types of dependence: strong dependence, according to which the very existence, or validity, of moral obligations depends on God's command, and weak dependence, according to which though morality itself is independent of God, God (or belief in God) is necessary to enable human beings to know their moral duties and to carry them out. The authors reject the strong dependence thesis, as well as most versions of the weak dependence. The third part of the book discusses different versions of the view that religion might conflict with morality. The authors reject this view, and show that very few religious thinkers would follow it all the way through to its ultimate consequences. The book has implications for the philosophy of religion, in its emphasis on the centrality of the moral element in religion, and for moral philosophy, in its highlighting, among other things, of the nature of moral judgments.

Today's modern technology and scientific knowledge contradicts all religious dogma created in ancient times by ignorant and superstitious people who had just learned to write. Modern science can test the strength of one's faith and it can make him a skeptic, causing him to discard the religious beliefs of his family for generations past. Deep religious experiences (or self-induced delusions) can be explained by physical, psychological, biological and medical sciences today. "Evil" or "Sin" is the result of social and mental conditions and can be corrected with education and medication today and without the help of an imaginary "God". To quote Mark Twain "Faith is to believe in what you know for sure is not true". The GOD Dilemma is an unscientific investigation to justify believing in religion today and in particular the Christian faith. It argues that scientific and logical discussions about religion and the existence of God are futile; however, we cannot stop thinking about it. Humans are (maybe) born with a faith in God's existence and with a conscience that tells them which is morally and ethically right and which is not. Author Thomas used to believe in religion, God, and Christianity through his teenage years, but even if he learned to ignore it during his 50 adult years, he never consciously discarded his Christian faith. He now shares his investigations and attempts to believe in Jesus Christ once again, despite today's knowledge of the universe and evolution and by ignoring the sanctimonious behavior of fundamentalist US Christians. In the international scene, Thomas believes that the US wars since WWII cannot be justified by the life and the teachings of Jesus Christ. There is an underlying moral claim by fundamentalist Christian Americans that its actions are justified by Jesus and Christianity. The new phenomenon called "Christian Zionism" which requires the removal of Palestinians from their homeland to create and expand Israel to enable the second coming of Christ, categorically contradicts the teachings of Jesus in the four Gospels. Zionism is based on the Old Testament Bible (OTB) and Revelations in the New Testament both of which are scientifically ridiculous. The OTB is also historically questionable (about a God interacting with his only chosen people in Middle East) and morally criminal (God sponsored and assisted armed robbery and genocide to create Israel ancient and modern) by today's legal and ethical standards. Why has the life and teachings of Jesus Christ not produced universal love and non-violence among Christians? Why are American Christians the most active supporters of (or not speaking out against) the wars, bombing and destruction by the USA since WWII? Are Ashkenazi European Jews really the descendants of Semitic slaves from Egypt? What were the reasons for anti-Semitism and the Holocaust in "Christian" Europe of the past? Why is the European Union and the US punishing the Palestinians for the Holocaust crimes in Europe? Can God's orders in the Bible be legally used by the United Nations to recreate Israel again in the 20th century after 3000 years by getting rid of Palestinians? The book seeks to inform and provoke critical thinking of the readers through this investigation into religion and God and, in particular, the violent, intolerant and self-righteous behavior of Christians for centuries past and even in today's enlightened age using the source of the Christian religion the Bible.

The Word Of God written by Eric Brownlee and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Fiction categories.

Eric Brownlee grew up on the Great Plains of Northeastern Colorado, where he experienced his first insights into the beauty of nature—the majestic grandeur of the Rocky Mountains, the incomprehensible power of a thunderstorm, the utter indifference imposed upon the human spirit by a star-filled night sky, or in the solitude and serenity of a vast wheatfield stretching to the horizon. The formal, societal experiences that influenced his religious upbringing, the hours spent in church, the vague sermons, the rote memorization, paled in comparison. To this day, he can't understand why someone would expect to find God inside a man-made structure, or in the pages of a book written by men. He condemns Jesus' statement: "The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life."Passionately driven to write a book exposing the flimsy foundation upon which Judeo-Christian zealotry is based, Eric has, in the spirit of Joseph Daleiden's seminal work, The Final Superstition(Prometheus Books), painstakingly provided rigorous arguments establishing that sound ethics and effective social doctrines must not be grounded in myth and falsehood.
