THE AEGIS CONSPIRACY is a fictional account of a covert organization hidden within the Central Intelligence Agency. The cabal is composed of men who are convinced the policy precluding assassinations exposes the nation to grave peril. Ignoring established directives, these men quietly plan and cause the deaths of those they deem to represent a clear and present danger to the Republic. Clandestine Service Agent Den Clark joins with the conspirators but he becomes a threat to them. He is pursued by faceless enemies, intent upon his murder. THE AEGIS CONSPIRACY is a demonstration of Lord Acton's epigram - Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. About the Author Galen Winter lived in Latin America, traveling extensively while negotiating and managing contracts with Latin governments and companies. He returned to the United States as a corporation attorney in Milwaukee and in Chicago. Later, he opened a law office in northern Wisconsin where, he writes, "man can associate with dogs and shotguns without arousing too much suspicion." Winter has contributed hundreds of columns to several national and regional outdoor magazines. He has compiled a fish and wild game cookbook, written five volumes of short stories and published two novels. Winter also found time to engage is his passion for hunting and fishing - preoccupations that have taken him from north of the Arctic Circle in Canada's Northwest Territories to Brazil's Amazon basin, Argentina's Patagonia, the waters off Ecuador, Costa Rica and Cuba and many other places where fish and game occur. Winter holds a Political Science, a Masters in International Business Administration and a Doctor Juris degree.

Do you believe in conspiracies? No one can deny there are many strange events that have never been explained. Why did Flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing drop out of the sky without trace? How did the naked body of GCHQ codebreaker Gareth Williams end up in in a padlocked holdall in a Pimlico flat? Did Russian leader Vladimir Putin really order the assassination by polonium of double agent Alexander Litvinenko? This book gives you the inside track on conspiracies, from the assassination of John F. Kennedy, through the mysteries of the Illuminati and Skull and Bones, to the death of Osama bin Laden and the revelations of Julian Assange and Edward Snowden. It answers all the crucial questions concerning the Bilderberg Group, the Nazis' Hollow Earth Theory, the Paris car crash of Princess Diana, Roswell, and much besides. Conspiracy looks at a range of the most interesting theories, from the visibly far-fetched, such as the belief that the world is run by lizard people, to the only-too-true and tragic overthrow and murder of Chilean President Salvador Allende.

Conspiracies are everywhere. they are the lifeblood of politics, business and our daily lives. this truly international and all-embracing encyclopedia explains the details of the world's major popular conspiracies, listing them chronologically under subject matter and cross-referencing them continually (because so many conspiracy theories interact on some level). Conspiracies are often international in their sweep and their impact. the brutal stabbing of Julius Caesar (the conspiracy which has defined political assassinations ever since) plunged the Roman Empire into civil war, which then engulfed much of the known western world. More recently the Cambridge spies (Philby, Blunt, MacLean and Burgess) helped Russia throughout WWII and then re-defined the Cold War afterwards, Philby's defection casting a 30-year shadow over CIA/Anglo-American relations. though conspiracies define our everyday lives, there is no body of serious academic research to understand their role, nature or defining characteristics. Most historians prefer to adhere to the cock-up theory of history, in which everything happens by accident or incompetence. Although this view is favoured by academics and historians, it is rejected by a large part of the general public who prefer the evidence of their own lives. However they consume their media, what they see is a mesh of conspiracies that define the texture of their everyday lives, often for the worst. Most people believe that there is a grain of truth in most theories about conspiracies. this book is for them.

Conspiracies And Conspiracy Theories In The Age Of Trump written by Daniel C. Hellinger and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-11-25 with Political Science categories.

Conspiracies and Conspiracy Theory in the Age of Trump stands out in the burgeoning literature on conspiracism with its call for political scientists to analyze not only “conspiracy theory” as political pathology but conspiracies themselves as political behavior symbiotically related to moral hazards and other forces unleashed by dark money, disinformation, changing technologies, and globalization. This new updated edition extends this analysis to the belief by many Americans that the 2020 election was stolen, resistance to social measures to counter the Covid epidemic, attempts by Trump and his allies to “stop the steal,” and the resulting mob insurrection at the Capitol on January 6. We likely will see both conspiracism and actual conspiracies play a greater role due to institutional decay in American politics. For this reason, political scientists need to analyse and theorize the role of conspiracies in politics—why they prosper and fail, how conspiracies may inflect political outcomes, what relationship they bear to social forces unleashed by great economic and social change.

In 1938, the year before the world exploded into six years of war, eight people boarded a Caribbean freighter for a cruise to the Republic of Anchuria. They were beginning to see signs of a recovery from the Great Depression and gave little thought to the dark storms approaching them from Europe. Most of them were unaware of the Anchurian President's attempts to establish an alliance with Hitler's Third Reich. Most of them were unaware of those among their travel companions who promoted the Nazi cause. Most of them were unaware of those among their travel companions who fought against it. Most of them were unaware of the intrigue and murder and the plans of violence surrounding them. The ones who were unaware enjoyed their experience. About the Author: Galen Winter is a retired (he says "reformed") attorney. He lived in Mexico and in Puerto Rico, traveling extensively in South America, Central America and the Caribbean while negotiating and managing contracts between United States corporations and Latin companies and governments. He became a Consultant in International affairs, then a domestic corporation attorney and finished his professional career as a private practitioner in a small upper Wisconsin town where, he says "a man can associate with dogs and shotguns without arousing too much suspicion." For nearly three decades he wrote back-page humor columns for national and regional outdoor sports magazines and has hunted and fished all over the hemisphere. Other books by Galen Winter include: The Aegis Conspiracy, The Chronicles of Major Peabody, The Journals of Major Peabody, The Best of the Major, Backlash and Backlash II.

Contemporary Muslim Apocalyptic Literature written by David Cook and has been published by Syracuse University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-07-21 with Literary Criticism categories.

Although apocalyptic visions and predictions have long been part of classical and contemporary Islam, this book is the first scholarly work to cover this disparate but influential body of writing. David Cook puts the literature in context by examining not only the ideological concerns prompting apocalyptic material but its interconnection with the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Arab relations with the United States and other Western nations, and the role of violence in the Middle East. Cook suggests that Islam began as an apocalyptic movement and has retained a strong apocalyptic and messianic trend. One of his most striking discoveries is the influence of non-Islamic sources on contemporary Muslim apocalyptic beliefs. He trenchantly discusses the influence of non-Islamic sources on contemporary Muslim apocalyptic writing, tracing anti-Semitic strains in Islamist thought in part to Western texts and traditions. Through a meticulous reading of current documents, incorporating everything from exegesis of holy texts to supernatural phenomena, Cook shows how radical Muslims, including members of al-Qa'ida, may have applied these ideas to their own agendas. By exposing the undergrowth of popular beliefs contributing to religion-driven terrorism, this book casts new light on today's political conflicts.

Conspiracies Of Conspiracies written by Thomas Milan Konda and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-03-15 with History categories.

It’s tempting to think that we live in an unprecedentedly fertile age for conspiracy theories, with seemingly each churn of the news cycle bringing fresh manifestations of large-scale paranoia. But the sad fact is that these narratives of suspicion—and the delusional psychologies that fuel them—have been a constant presence in American life for nearly as long as there’s been an America. In this sweeping book, Thomas Milan Konda traces the country’s obsession with conspiratorial thought from the early days of the republic to our own anxious moment. Conspiracies of Conspiracies details centuries of sinister speculations—from antisemitism and anti-Catholicism to UFOs and reptilian humanoids—and their often incendiary outcomes. Rather than simply rehashing the surface eccentricities of such theories, Konda draws from his unprecedented assemblage of conspiratorial writing to crack open the mindsets that lead people toward these self-sealing worlds of denial. What is distinctively American about these theories, he argues, is not simply our country’s homegrown obsession with them but their ongoing prevalence and virulence. Konda proves that conspiracy theories are no harmless sideshow. They are instead the dark and secret heart of American political history—one that is poisoning the bloodstream of an increasingly sick body politic.
