Readers of “The American Terrorist” will be able to discuss terrorism like an expert. The book explains why some criminals are labeled as terrorists, but others are not, and compiles the attributes of 500+ American citizens charged with acts related to terrorism into an 8-marker profile of an American terrorist. Acts of terrorism may only impact a few, but the fear they invoke permeates the entire country and divides us. This book gives power back to the community to identify a developing terrorist and offers tools to re-engage them back into society and steer them down a better path. The reader will also find a complete list and summaries of domestic and international terrorist organizations with which American terrorists align. Features: The Mindset of An American Terrorist is thoroughly examined, including social, marital, and economic class, education, profession, race, gender, sexuality, religion, and the desire for political freedom. The American Female Terrorist is relatively unknown to many citizens. The American Male Terrorist is well known, or is he? Find out if your assumptions about the age, education, allegiance, marital status, and mental health are correct. Recognizing a Developing Terrorist: The book reviews historical terrorist profiling and then devises a new, 8-marker profile of a developing terrorist supported by statistics and case studies. "Contemporary lone-actor terrorism is a complex, multi-dimensional process, involving different contexts, ideologies, geographic regions, circumstances, drives, individuals, and modes of violence. Despite the complexity behind a violent incident, the outcome unfortunately is quite simple - harm and devastation to victims, families, and society. The purpose of this book is to explore lone-actor terrorism from different but complementary vantage points. One important focus is on the variability of clinical and forensic mental health concerns. In addition, this book explores other aspects of lone-actor terrorism, including law enforcement and homeland security, risk and threat assessment, geography, ethical considerations, and legal issues. Lone-actor terrorism does not happen in a vacuum. In the context of a given set of conditions, stressors, and rhetoric, many people will think about acting in some form of opposition, vocalize their disagreement or outrage, protest, and vote, in order to effect change. A very small number of individuals, however, think they have to 'take matters in their own hands' and act violently in order to effect change"--

OPERATION STORMFRONT: FROM WEATHERMAN TO WALL STREET is a blending of fact and fiction. Evelyn "Eve" Black is an undercover FBI Special Agent, but she’s not a very good one. She often breaks cover, loses her temper, and kills a few too many people. She has an opportunity to go undercover as a terrorism researcher/author to infiltrate American terrorist cells, weapons dealers, and to use her position in the FBI to take revenge on a few people, but her inability to stay undercover causes more roadblocks than she can handle alone. It’s not really her fault, in order to succeed she must become friendly, flirty and fun, all while wanting to pull out her gun and shoot them. An ex-lover called her a broken, cold-hearted sociopath, and while there may be a bit of truth to that statement, Eve’s only real fault is that she cares too much and is not afraid to take action. Join Eve as she plots, plans, and manipulates others to do her bidding. Not with a smile on her face, but with a Glock and an imagination. She teams up with her new friends, a beautiful Israeli weapons trainer and a seedy little arms dealer to execute a few unsanctioned side jobs. Eve is not a hero or villain, she is an ordinary human, dealing with everyday problems, and prefers to hide in the shadows, so maybe she is a bit too emotional at times, but aren’t we all?

Evelyn "Eve" Black is an undercover FBI Special Agent, but she’s not a very good one. She often breaks cover, loses her temper, and kills a few too many people. Fortunately for the FBI her old partner, Assistant Special Agent in Charge, ASAC Sean Peck was very by-the-book, and now it’s his turn to go undercover. Colton Smith, U.S. Army veteran, country music star, and Occupy Wall Street anti-one-percenter terrorist. While inside prison his singing made him a YouTube phenomenon, catching the eye of North Korean Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-un. Three young Americans visiting North Korea on holiday are jailed and tortured, and it’s up to Mr. Smith to pave the way for their escape. On this rare occasion, the CIA and the FBI work together to penetrate the hermit kingdom and bring the Americans home, all under the leader’s nose. Just when he thinks it’s all pizza and karaoke.

Denying safe haven to terrorists has been a key national security concern since 2002. Safe havens allow terrorists to train recruits and plan operations against the U.S. and its interests across the globe. As a result, Congress has required agencies to provide detailed information regarding U.S. efforts to address terrorist safe havens. This report assesses the extent to which: (1) the Dept. of State (State) has identified and assessed terrorist safe havens in its Country Reports on Terrorism: and (2) the U.S. government has identified efforts to deny terrorists safe haven consistent with reporting requirements. To address these objectives, the report analyzed country-level plans for the Philippines, Somalia, and Yemen. Illus. A print on demand report.

This book is for anyone who is interested in learning about terrorism in all its forms. For over four decades I have studied terrorism, trained to deal with it, dealt with it, and taught it as an academic discipline. Over these decades I have seen an already complicated topic become even more difficult to understand. The field of study has grown as the world has gotten smaller. Ask anyone what terrorism is and you will get a myriad of answers. Even in academia the topic has become more convoluted. As with crime, there are many theories espoused as to why one commits terrorism and why terrorism exists. It appears to me that many academics, researchers, policymakers, authors, and journalists in general view this topic with a tainted lens based on their own world view. Some act as apologists for terrorists while often doing so in a subtle manner. Some try to expand the definition and concept well beyond the scope that it should be found. I have students who do this all the time. We seem to be living in an emotion driven society instead of a fact driven one. A relatively new trend is to use the word extremist as a synonym for terrorist. There are several problems with this. First, this creates a net widening effect which lumps those who we disagree with in that net. Second, who gets to decide who or what is extreme? Third, and finally, it waters down and muddies the study of “terrorism”. This does not mean that an extremist might not become a terrorist. Having pointed out the minefield terrorism can be my goal is to offer an academically sound real-world fact-based explanation on terrorism. Terrorism can be a politically charged topic. I ask that as you read this book you check what is written, digest it, and make your own decisions on what you have read. It is highly likely some of your thinking will be challenged. When I began to teach homeland security which includes terrorism, I made a promise to myself that I would never be politically correct. Political correctness is what some terrorists rely on and is one of our worse habits. We will cover several overarching themes. We will look at what terrorism is and is not. We will explore the historical roots of terrorism. We will discuss the causes of terrorism as well as terrorist typologies. Next, we will examine domestic terrorism and international and ethnic terrorism. Then we will dive into religion and terrorism and spend time looking at Islamic terrorism and Jihad. We will examine asymmetric warfare including terrorists’ tactics and weapons of choice. We will discuss terrorist financing an explore counterterrorism.
