The Constitutions of the Holy Apostles (Latin: Constitutiones Apostolorum) is a Christian collection of eight treatises which belongs to the Church Orders, a genre of Early Christian literature, that offered authoritative "Apostolic" prescriptions on moral conduct, Liturgy and Church organization. The work can be dated from 375 to 380 AD. The provenance is usually regarded as Syria, probably Antioch. The author is unknown, even if since James Ussher it was considered to be the same author of the letters of Pseudo-Ignatius, perhaps the 4th-century Eunomian bishop Julian of Cilicia.

The Apostolic Constitutions are made up of eight treatises covering the early church's discipline, worship, and doctrine. It was intended to act as a manual to guide the clergy and to serve as a catechism for the laity. It claims to be written by the Twelve Apostles. The structure of the work is: Books 1-6: Admonitions about Christian life, prayer, orphans and martyrdom. Rules about the qualifications of bishops, deacons and deaconesses and widows. Rules about church-building, fasting, the education of children and heresies. Book 7: A rewrite of the Didache along with prayers. Book 8: A treatise on charismata and a rewrite of the Apostolic Tradition along with the "Canons of the Apostles." This work is taken from: Ante-Nicene Fathers, Vol. 7. Edited by Alexander Roberts (1826-1901), and A. Cleveland Coxe (1818-1896). (Buffalo, NY: Christian Literature Publishing Co., 1886.) Translated by James Donaldson (1831-1915). The original footnotes and Bible references are preserved. Also, illustrations have been added of the Gospels events and the Biblical characters referred to in the text.

"The Apostolic Constitutions (to give it its full title, the Constitutions of the Holy Apostles according to Clement) is a vast compilation, in Greek, in eight books, the longest and most complex of what are generally known as the 'church orders'. 'The Church Order was a literary form characteristic of the early centuries... It would contain rules for Christian life and church discipline and liturgical forms, often attributed to the twelve apostles. From the fourth century onwards such Orders were often gathered into collections. Sometimes they were drastically rewritten, or cast into the form of canons, and even those that were not rewritten were liable to alteration to fit the customs of the time and place of writing.' The last part of book VIII of AC is cast in the form of canons, the eighty-five Apostolic Canons (ACA)."--
