The official behind–the–scenes companion book to VIVO, the first-ever musical from the Academy Award-winning studio Sony Pictures Animation, coming to Netflix this Summer. The Art of VIVO will give readers a behind-the-scenes look at VIVO, the first-ever musical from Sony Pictures Animation, including exclusive concept art, character designs, storyboards and commentary from the award-winning filmmaking team. VIVO will be released in over 190 countries on Netflix this summer. VIVO follows a one-of-kind kinkajou (aka a rainforest “honey bear”), who spends his days playing music to the crowds in a lively Havana square with his beloved owner Andrés. Though they may not speak the same language, Vivo and Andrés are the perfect duo through their common love of music. But when tragedy strikes shortly after Andrés receives a letter from the famous Marta Sandoval, inviting her old partner to her farewell concert in Miami with the hope of reconnecting, it’s up to Vivo to deliver a message that Andrés never could: A love letter to Marta, written long ago, in the form of a song. Yet in order to get to the distant shores of Miami, Vivo will need to accept the help of Gabi—an energetic tween who bounces to the beat of her own offbeat drum. VIVO is an exhilarating story about gathering your courage, finding family in unlikely friends, and the belief that music can open you to new worlds. The Art of VIVO offers readers insight into how this design aesthetic for the film was developed and how animators take inspiration from real-world locales to bring songs to animated life. This is an essential addition to any animation fan’s library.

Bioart And The Vitality Of Media written by Robert E. Mitchell and has been published by University of Washington Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-09-14 with Art categories.

Bioart -- art that uses either living materials (such as bacteria or transgenic organisms) or more traditional materials to comment on, or even transform, biotechnological practice -- now receives enormous media attention. Yet despite this attention, bioart is frequently misunderstood. Bioart and the Vitality of Media is the first comprehensive theoretical account of the art form, situating it in the contexts of art history, laboratory practice, and media theory. Mitchell begins by sketching a brief history of bioart in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, describing the artistic, scientific, and social preconditions that made it conceptually and technologically possible. He illustrates how bioartists employ technologies and practices from the medical and life sciences in an effort to transform relationships among science, medicine, corporate interests, and the public. By illustrating the ways in which bioart links a biological understanding of media -- that is, media understood as the elements of an environment that facilitate the growth and development of living entities -- with communicational media, Bioart and the Vitality of Media demonstrates how art and biotechnology together change our conceptions and practices of mediation. Reading bioart through a range of resources, from Immanuel Kants discussion of disgust to Gilles Deleuzes theory of affect to Gilbert Simondons concept of individuation, provides readers with a new theoretical approach for understanding bioart and its relationships to both new media and scientific institutions.

This state-of-the-art text describes the science behind the system and drug-dependent components of PBPK models, its applications in translational and regulatory science, e.g., guiding drug discovery and development, and supporting precision medicine initiatives. To incorporate state-of-the-art knowledge, each chapter is written by leaders in the field and illustrated by clear case studies. Connecting basic and applied science, this book explores the potential of PBPK modeling for improving therapeutics and is designed for a wide audience encompassing graduate students as well as biopharmaceutics scientists and clinical pharmacologists. Features: 1. Provides a basic understanding of the physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling and its applications 2. Assists the reader in understanding product performance to allow for rapid product development and establish bioequivalence 3. Well-constructed content and added value of real examples 4. Illustrates how using available resources via modeling and simulation leads to a reduction in the costs related to drug development, which directly affects the costs to patients

State Of The Art Imaging In Stroke written by Bernhard Schaller and has been published by Nova Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Medical categories.

In recent years, a substantial number of imaging studies have addressed the neuronal processes underlying recovery after stroke. Although difficult to achieve, several longitudinal studies assessed both clinical recovery and imaging patterns over time and give important inside into the plasticity of the stroked brain. This tendency is supported by the fact that it has become possible to depict biological processes at the cellular and molecular level. Of primary interest is the development of methods using MRI and PET with which the different kinds of progress of therapy in acute ischemic stroke can be monitored and graphically displayed. The emerging studies of brain plasticity and its modulation by drugs and other therapies indicate potentially useful approaches to the rehabilitation of adults with brain damage, including damage resulting from cerebral ischaemia. State-of-the-art imaging technology is already being developed to image genes and their impact on cellular function in laboratory animals. Eventually, this may also be possible in humans. Main attention is given to imaging the post-stroke phase and its implication on treatment. This book gives important insight in the future of imaging in stroke and their interaction with clinical aspects. Stroke care has become a specialised field, requiring input from different sub-specialists forming a multidisciplinary team.

The Art Of Bras Lia written by Sophia Beal and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-29 with Social Science categories.

People from outside of Brasília often dismiss Brazil’s capital as socially divided, boring, corrupt, and emotionally cold. Apparently its founders created not a vibrant capital, but a cultural wasteland. However, as Sophia Beal argues, Brasília’s contemporary artists are out to prove the skeptics wrong. These twenty-first-century artists are changing how people think about the city and animating its public spaces. They are recasting Brasília as a vibrant city of the arts in which cultural production affirms a creative right to the city. Various genres—prose, poetry, film, cultural journalism, music, photography, graffiti, street theater, and street dance—play a part. Brasília’s initial 1960s art was state-sanctioned, carried out mainly by privileged, white men. In contrast, the capital’s contemporary art is marked by its diversity, challenging norms about who has a voice within the Brasília art scene. This art demystifies the capital’s inequities and imagines alternative ways of inhabiting the city.
