The Australian Medico-Legal Handbook will be provided with PDA software and aims to give JMOs immediate, clear and concise answers to the most frequently asked legal questions arising during hospital training. Doctors carry very little when they are in the ward but are increasingly carrying PDAs, making the accompanying software an ideal content delivery method. The handbook and accompanying PDA software is the only one of its kind offered to Australian JMOs. Content development is based around the authors' research through ongoing focus groups into the most commonly asked questions by the end user, that is, JMOs in the hospital training environment. Law updates and other relevant materials (including guidelines and links to relevant Health Department documents) will be provided on the accompanying Evolve site. Written by a proven author team, each an expert in the medico-legal and/or ethical fields. Clinical problems will be outlined with cross-referencing to the appropriate sections of the handbook. These questions will be posed in the style and format used by clinicians, for example: ‘What if I get sued?' ‘What do I do if someone refuses treatment?' ‘What deaths do I refer to the Coroner?' ‘What if I make a mistake?' ‘Who makes decisions about a child's treatment?'

Health Law in Australia is the first book to deal with health law on a comprehensive national basis. In a field of law that is becoming increasingly important, where the demand for expertise is rapidly expanding, Health Law in Australia examines the law in detail in all Australian jurisdictions. By covering all the major areas in this diverse field of law, Health Law in Australia delivers increased understanding of the discipline as a whole. The book deals with the general principles of health law in detail, including chapters on "Medical Negligence"; "Children and Consent", and "Confidentiality and Privacy". It then goes on to consider beginning-of-life and end-of-life issues, concluding with chapters on select emerging health law areas, such as biotechnology, mental health law and organ and tissue donation. The contributing authors include national leaders in the field, therefore exposing readers to the results of research already being conducted by specialists and creating a higher level of expertise that would not otherwise be possible across the wide range of topics. A logical, structured approach is adopted within each chapter to ensure consistency throughout the book. Health Law in Australia has been written for those with a legal background and is essential reading for undergraduate law students, postgraduate law students, researchers and scholars in the disciplines of law, health and medicine, as well as legal practitioners, government departments and bodies in the health area, and private health providers.

Medical Liability In Asia And Australasia written by Vera Lúcia Raposo and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-25 with Law categories.

This book brings together some of the most respected Asian and Australasian experts on medical liability to provide insightful perspectives on civil and criminal law from selected Australasian jurisdictions. It focuses on the idiosyncrasies of the existing law and case law in this part of the world with regard to medical liability, adopting a comparative and critical perspective. The aim is to provide an overview of the basic elements of medical liability in Asian and Australian jurisdictions, as well as the latest developments and general trends in jurisprudence. Given the broad range of jurisdictions covered, the book offers lawmakers, health administrators and practitioners, both in law and medicine, an alternative approach to the delivery of health care. Further, it is essential reading for all those (academics, lawyers, judges, researchers, practicing doctors and those involved in the growing area of legal medicine) working in medical liability, specially in the Australasian context.
