With stunningly original illustrations by Kevin Watts, The Awakening of Man Hamlet is psychological commentary at its finest. Reminding us at the very beginning that Hamlet's main message is about awakening, what it is and, most importantly, what it is not: the author John Stubbs points out that you cannot awaken, for example, just by behaving differently from now on, that is by "adding virtue" to your resume. Why? The author explains: "Because your old self will absorb the new and make it its own, thus corrupting it... Consequently, you have to remove the old stock completely - your entire old self has to go." Letting this first message resonate, the author then points out the second, equally disquieting message: "In order to completely remove the old self you must even remove the part which is doing the removing." That is why by the end of Hamlet, with the exception of Horatio cast in the role of being the messenger, every major character is dead. Nothing of the old self remains -- not even its highest and most noble part, Hamlet. Be or Not Be.

If one is looking for answers to the meaning of life and how to make a happier, richer existence—e.g., relationships, finances, health—then Neville’s teaching from personal experience, testimonies from students, and his amazing visions paralleling and explaining the mysteries of the Old and New Testament will answer those questions. Learn his techniques, unleash your power to create, believe in your imaginal acts, and no power in this world can stop the desired results from appearing in your world. It’s the only creative power, one that everyone is operating moment to moment. Learning how to direct it deliberately is essential to producing loving, positive changes in one’s life. These 1963 lectures also begin a nine-year odyssey of discovering the deepest meanings of six visions of the End that had unfolded in Neville (1959–1963). The visions are the signs that this long journey as limited man, the terrible opacity and contraction, is over, that the purpose of human life has been completed—man has endured and overcome six thousand years of amnesia plus the fires of experience and has emerged victorious. He’s been transformed by his inner being (I AM, God) back into the divinity he truly is . . . and always was.

The late Victor Grove wrote this book after numerous lectures at colleges and universities and talks for American and British troops, as well as for German prisoners of war. Today, some fifty years later, in a world increasingly burdened by the strain of skepticism and paralysis--significantly so after the events of September 11, 2001--this work has become more topical than ever before.

'?what is this quintessence of dust?In Shakespeare's most famous play, a young prince, alienated and betrayed, struggles to make a decision; in a court where every friend is a spy, and every loving act somehow leads to murder, the sanest person is he who pretends to be mad. A brilliantly controlled plot, complex and convincing characters, and, above all, wonderful poetry have won Hamlet a deserved place as Shakespeare's most popular and frequently-performed play. Any young person who has been deceived or disappointed by an adult has been the young prince; anyone who has ever felt alone in the modern world has wandered the castle at Elsinore. Thus Hamlet, who asks, ?Why am I here? is a hero for our times, as well as his own. To make Hamlet more accessible for the modern reader, our Prestwick House Literary Touchstone Edition includes a glossary of the more difficult words, as well as convenient sidebar notes to enlighten the reader on aspects that may be confusing or overlooked. In doing this, it is our intention that the reader may more fully enjoy the beauty of the verse, the wisdom of the insights, and the impact of the play.
