Chances are the reader will pick up this book because they have been a member of the International Church of Christ, or they have know someone who belongs to this movement. If they are currently members, this book will challenge them as a professing Christian to examine the claims in this book and compare them to the Bible. It is the prayer of the author that they will abandon this movement and come to the proper understanding of salvation. Is the ICC a cult? The answer is undeniably, "yes." The ICC itself admits that it is a cult in an attempt to downplay reality.

In the web of cultural processes of late antiquity ablution rites and initiation rites were performed in different forms and in different contexts. Such rites existed in Early Judaism and Greco-Roman cults and were also applied in early Christianity under the label “baptism”, however, not as one fixed rite uniformly performed and interpreted. Baptismal rites developed diversely corresponding to the diversity among Christian groups of which some later came to be perceived as heretical. Remains of art, architecture and texts from these contexts were discussed in two conferences gathering scholars who are excellent within their respective fields: text studies, studies of rites, archaeology, architecture, history of art, and cultural anthropology. These different fields of research have in recent years generated new knowledge that is relevant for the discussion of ablution and initiation rites and their function in late antiquity. At the same time interests of research have altered in favour of a growing cooperation across discipline borders. The present volumes are the outcome of two conferences in Rome 2008 and at Metochi (Lesbos) 2009.

I Fired God written by Jocelyn Zichterman and has been published by St. Martin's Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-05-14 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

A compelling memoir and account of the Independent Fundamental Baptist church and its shocking history of religious abuse. Jocelyn Zichterman was born, raised, married into, and finally, with her family, fled the Independent Fundamental Baptist church. Founded by the fiery preacher Bob Jones, with several hundred thousand members, IFB congregants are told they must not associate with members of other Baptist denominations and evangelicals, with an emphasis on secrecy, insular marriages within the church, a subservience for women, and unusual child raising practices. In I Fired God, Jocelyn Zichterman systematically details the IFB's disturbing history, exposing a cult-like atmosphere of corruption, greed, and abuse. Having been initiated into its innermost circles, Zichterman knows that the gentle demeanor America sees in the form of the Duggar clan on 19 Kids and Counting disguises the truth about the darker side of the church. With written documentation and sources so thorough that law enforcement has used her work as a foundation for criminal prosecutions, Zichterman exposes the IFB with revelations including: - The disturbing world of abuse within the IFB and doctors and teachers who cater exclusively to church members and fail to report physical and sexual abuse - The IFB-controlled Bob Jones University, which issues degrees of questionable value while making vast sums of money for its founders - The way the IFB influences politics on the local, state, and national level, and protects its abusive culture under the constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion

This work serves as an investigation of the Isis cult by tracing its development from Egypt into Greco-Roman society. The origin of the Isis cult is described by using the accounts of Plutarch, Apuleius, and Diodorus before examining the effects of Isis on Egyptian culture. The Isis cult soon overflows into the Greco-Roman world. While this mysterious religion initially encounters opposition, especially since it clashes with Roman patriarchal society, it overcomes these limitations.

Excerpt from The Church's Broken Unity: On Anabaptism, the Independents, and Quakerism All hold it necessary to baptize. Thus S. John is called The Baptist, because he baptized and we should be very unwilling to lose the idea that we were following the precept of our lord, when He told us to go and baptize all nations. Baptism is the distinctive badge and mark of all Christians. We are all Baptists. But the very point of distinction and cutting off from the great body of the Church in the sect I am now describing is, that they baptize over again - which no other Christians ever do. If one enters into this community already baptized as an infant, they baptize such an one over again, passing by and ignoring the fact of any other baptism than their own. Hence, ana-baptist is the proper word by which they should be described, as mark ing the essence of their heresy. Oneness Pentecostal Churches written by Bruce Tucker and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-05-13 with Religion categories.

There are approximately 111 separate sects and denominations that are classified as Oneness Pentecostal Churches. These congregations are found in nearly every city and town in the United States, as well as around the world. They get their distinctive name from the fact that they do not believe in the orthodox doctrine of the Trinity. They believe that all who do believe in the Trinity are spiritually lost because they have adopted a pagan doctrine. They differ from other Pentecostals and the rest of the historical church on several important issues, earning them the title of a Pseudo-Christian Cult by established cult watching organizations and cult experts. The book, Oneness Pentecostal Churches, examines the claims, doctrines and practices of these fellowships. It addresses the issues in a manner comprehensive enough to satisfy the professional minister, yet clear enough to meet the needs of laypeople who are seeking answers about this significant movement. The questions discussed in the book include: 1.) Who are Oneness Pentecostals? 2.)Why are Oneness Pentecostals called "the people of the name"? 3.)Is the doctrine of the Trinity really pagan? 4.)Is there a three step pathway to salvation? 5.)Does water baptism save? 6.)Is speaking in tongues required for salvation? For those interested in understanding the Oneness Pentecostal movement, this book is required reading.
