“Understanding our role in marriage is essential to our happiness in marriage.” Many times we as wives are so ambitious to scale to the height of the universe and accomplish mighty feats that we fail to realize our greatest achievements will come in simple obedience to our Lord’s words. In marriage, this starts with an understanding of our role. This role does not come naturally for women as some claim. The Lord says it must be taught (Titus 2:3-5). Could it be that simple lack of understanding concerning the role of the wife is a significant factor in the divorce rate? I think so. In The Biblical Role of the Wife, I will share with you some of my own mistakes and what I learned about my role as a wife. Ignorance is certainly not bliss. When I got married, I thought I knew my role. I was wrong! I only knew what I saw demonstrated around me and assumed that this was how I also must behave. It never occurred to me that some of the fighting and upheaval I was experiencing in my marriage, such as feeling torn between my husband and my family, was simply a direct result of my lack of understanding concerning my role. Needless to say, I began to learn that there was a better way—God’s way. As I learned God’s way, I was quite surprised when I noticed how much more peace and happiness I experienced because I started putting into practice the truths that I am about to share with you.

“This book walks each of us through the reality checks we need in order to have the marriage we want!” —Shaunti Feldhahn, social researcher and best-selling author of For Women Only In today’s workplace, women are often rewarded for having type A personalities: driven, demanding, ambitious, and strong. Yet when it comes to their marriages, those same traits can backfire. After all, no one goes into marriage hoping for a promotion. What is a wife to do? April Cassidy knows this struggle firsthand. She thought she was a great Christian wife and begged God to make her passive husband into a more loving, involved, godly leader. Instead, God opened her eyes to changes that she needed to make, such as laying down her desire for control and offering genuine, unconditional respect—not just love—to her husband. Cassidy’s conclusions may be as startling to readers as they were to her, but The Peaceful Wife shares how she and many others have learned to reorient their lives to biblical commands—resulting in healthier, happier marriages. In the end, you’ll find The Peaceful Wife a powerful path to God’s design for women to live in full submission to Christ as Lord.

The relationship between a husband and a wife can be a very fruitful relationship if both the man and the woman are able to understand and perform their God given roles. Unfortunately many ladies today are becoming wives without understanding the roles of a wife and what is expected of them by the society/church. Many do not fully know their roles and obligations and the result of this ignorance is the dysfunctional homes we are seeing today and marriages going to the "dogs". The solution to the dysfunctional marriages today may be found in proper preparation through the right knowledge and training in the godly principles that lead to successful marriages before entering into the institution of marriage. The institution of marriage is under such an attack and it is only wise to educate many young well meaning ladies and men what marriage is all about and how to best play the role they will soon come into. I recognize the need for training and equipping of both men and women for the role of becoming husbands and wives, however this particular volume concentrates on the wives. I agree with the following quote by Lady Mary Wortley Montagu who said "The ultimate end of your education was to make you a good wife (1689-1762).I have undertaken the great challenge of educating and equipping those who are wives and those who desire to become wives in future with the necessary wisdom, understanding and knowledge by gathering insight from the Book of the One who instituted the very institution of family and gave to each member his or her role. Numbers 30:16 These are the regulations the LORD gave Moses concerning relationships between a man and his wife....The Bible is the only authoritative book that offers the right kind of foundation any wife would need to be able to deal with present and future challenges that would come to kill, steal or destroy her marriage. The scriptures clearly reveal that a young woman may need to be taught how to love her husband and children. Titus 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,The writings herein seek to teach every wife how best to love her husband and discharge her duties as a wife. I have endeavored to look at every scripture in the Bible with the word wife in it with the purpose of gleaning wisdom on the roles of a wife. The comments I have made on the scriptures that have the word wife are meant to give insight on different areas and topics that related to the life of a wife and how best to fulfill that role. I approach the topic of being a wife with utmost respect and love to the woman while at the same time striving to maintain and bring forth the revelation of scripture on the same. It is the author's sincere hope that that noble endeavor has been achieved and that this work will be a great blessing to this and many more generation. Please feel free to get in touch with the author with your comments, questions etc. through the addresses given.God richly bless you as you study this material.

The Bible, Gender, and Reception History: The Case of Job's Wife investigates the fleeting appearance in the Bible of Job's wife and its impact on the imaginations of readers throughout history. It begins by presenting key interpretive gaps in the biblical text concerning Job and his wife, explaining the way gender studies offers guiding principles with which the author engages a reception history of their marriage. After analyzing Job and his wife within medieval Christian theology of Eden, the author identifies ways in which Job's wife visually aligns with medieval images of Satan. The volume explores portrayals of Job and his wife in publications on marriage and gender roles in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, moving onto an investigation of William Blake's sharp artistic divergence from the common tradition in his representation of Job's wife as a shrew. In the exploration of societal portrayals of Job and his Wife throughout history, this book discovers how arguments about marriage intertwine with not only gender roles, but also, with political, social, and historical movements.
