What has the Spirit to do with the blessing of Abraham and justification? This book challenges the common assumption that the Abrahamic blessing and the Spirit are equated in Gal 3:14 and points out how an accurate understanding of the relationship between these two motifs contributes significantly to appreciating Paul's overall argument in Galatians and his theology of justification. Even though Paul does not cite Old Testament passages on the promise of the Spirit in Gal 3:1-14, his arguments are nonetheless deeply influenced by the whole prophetic tradition about the Spirit. Most current discussions on the present and future aspects of justification have yet to consider the Spirit's role in the latter. Given the renewed interest in Pauline justification, this book contributes to this important aspect of the Spirit's role in future justification, which needs to be developed further in Pauline and New Testament theology.

In this volume, Frank Macchia offers a systematic theology written with Christ’s outpouring of the Holy Spirit from the heavenly Father at Pentecost as its dominant motif. Christ’s death and resurrection provide for our reconciliation with God and make way for the Spirit, for the divine overflowing onto all flesh. The church is born in the grace of that overflowing. From the abundance of this divine self-giving spring forth many different tongues aflame with the church’s praise and witness. This systematic theology seeks to join and further guide these tongues in their diverse contexts by reflecting in a coherent fashion across the spectrum of Christian doctrine. The first three chapters offer an extensive treatment of modern approaches to theology. Subsequent chapters explore all of the major topics of importance to theology historically. This is theology written from a Pentecostal interest, yet seeking to speak beyond it to a larger ecumenical horizon.

Grace in Galatia is an innovative socio-rhetorical study of Paul's most polemical letter. Ben Witherington breaks new ground by analyzing the whole of Galatians as a deliberative discourse meant to forestall the Galatians from submitting to circumcision and the Jewish law. The commentary features the latest discussion of major problems in Pauline studies, including Paul's view of the law and the relationship between the historical data in Galatians and in Acts. Yet the narrative character of Witherington's work allows it to remain exceedingly accessible. The volume also includes sections following the major divisions of the commentary that point to the relevance of the text for believers today, making Grace in Galatia of special value to pastors and general readers as well as students and scholars.

Justification And The Kingdom Of God Volume Two written by Paul Chul Hong Kang and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-11 with Religion categories.

The Justification and Kingdom of God series seeks to answer the question: "How can justified Christians in Jesus bear the fruit of faith, reflecting growth in God's image?" To address this, the series helps readers understand what happens to the image-bearers of God in Adam or in Jesus Christ. This reveals the deeper meaning of the gospel and the restoration of God’s image, uncovering hidden treasures. Now, the challenge is whether the reader will accept these treasures. The Kingdom of Justification strengthens readers with the truth that eternal life—becoming the children of the living God through Jesus’s perfect obedience—includes the restoration of God’s image in Jesus. This restoration, achieved through Jesus, defines human wisdom, knowledge, righteousness, holiness, and goodness in Christ as God’s children. This book warns against following intellectualism and moralism in liberals, which are driven by the marred image of God due to Adam’s sin, as guides for one’s thoughts and actions. Justification by God’s grace alone is the foundation of true Christian growth in Jesus, the core of a Christian’s identity, and the source of gratitude, joy, and peace. This book continually encourages readers, “Don’t give up on yourself! You are a child of God!”
