In the seventeenth-century English Atlantic, religious beliefs and practices played a central role in creating racial identity. English Protestantism provided a vocabulary and structure to describe and maintain boundaries between insider and outsider. In this path-breaking study, Heather Miyano Kopelson peels back the layers of conflicting definitions of bodies and competing practices of faith in the puritan Atlantic, demonstrating how the categories of “white,” “black,” and “Indian” developed alongside religious boundaries between “Christian” and “heathen” and between “Catholic” and “Protestant.” Faithful Bodies focuses on three communities of Protestant dissent in the Atlantic World: Bermuda, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. In this “puritan Atlantic,” religion determined insider and outsider status: at times Africans and Natives could belong as long as they embraced the Protestant faith, while Irish Catholics and English Quakers remained suspect. Colonists’ interactions with indigenous peoples of the Americas and with West Central Africans shaped their understandings of human difference and its acceptable boundaries. Prayer, religious instruction, sexual behavior, and other public and private acts became markers of whether or not blacks and Indians were sinning Christians or godless heathens. As slavery became law, transgressing people of color counted less and less as sinners in English puritans’ eyes, even as some of them made Christianity an integral part of their communities. As Kopelson shows, this transformation proceeded unevenly but inexorably during the long seventeenth century.

The meaning of the aphorism; Life is not fair, but God is faithful. I believe life is not fair and will never be until Christ kingdom on earth is established (Rev. 21:1-3); the reason for that is straightforward. Adam's disobedience disordered the creation and its inhabitants (Genesis 3:1-end). Until the lease of dominion that Adam gave to the devil runs out, life will not be fair, but I equally believe that God is faithful perpetually in the unfair World. How faithful God is could be seen immediately after Adam's disobedience that rendered them (Adam and Eve) naked and how God's faithfulness shone through as He gave them the skin of an animal to cover their nakedness. Despite warning them to avoid the trouble, Genesis chapter 3:21.Thus, this book is written to explore God's faithfulness in the area of healing and miracle as a direct response to the triple evil that the fall of Adam occasioned. In God's faithfulness, He allowed His only Son to be killed to atone for man's sin and, in the process, offered humanity the power to arrest the process of decay in the human body on a universal scale. This was what Adam and his wife enjoyed in the garden of Eden before their fall. God graciously allowed Israel to enjoy this power to arrest the decay process in their journey in the wilderness where despite travelling in the wilderness for forty years, their feet did not swell. Neither did their clothes wear out Deut. 8:4, 29;5, Nehemiah 9;21. That same process is now made available to all through the death and resurrection of Jesus from death. It is known in the Bible as divine healing, and sometimes its constituent elements are made up of miracles. So, in this book, I will use the term divine healing and miracle to refer to supernatural healings of God and acts of God that is beyond the natural ability of man or science in arresting the process of decay in the body of all people who will let Him. In furtherance of God's faithfulness to Himself, He raised Jesus from death according to the Scriptures (Acts. 13: 28-30) and through that offered divine healing and miracle to all people who will acknowledge what Jesus did in His finished works on the cross. Based on that, I declared that 'GOD CAN HEAL YOU NOW AND YOU CAN RECEIVE A MIRACLE(Meaning; HE CAN ARREST THE PROCESS OF DECAY IN YOUR HUMAN BODY RIGHT NOW)', I know the power of Jesus Christ first hand to heal and deliver, and I am sure beyond any shadow of the doubt that He will heal you right now if you let Him. So that you will say at the end that 'Life is Not Fair, but God is Faithful'.
