Most people who desire to help and serve others face this situation at some point in their ministry. Dr. Paul Cox's book concentrates on the dynamics that can cause congregation members to make their pastor responsible for their burdens instead of looking to Christ for healing. Ministry comes with many weighty responsibilities. Ministry leaders are called to teach, serve, and lead. But in leading those under their care, there comes a moment when they recognize the future leaders under their leadership. With this recognition comes an all too familiar question: What comes next? In Calling Out the Called, Scott Pace and Shane Pruitt answer this question by giving direction, encouragement, and a charge for ministry leaders to recognize the future leaders in their midst and do what needs to be done for the future of ministry: the calling out of the called.

My parents, Pastors Wilson and Bessie Etsell, faced many obstacles during the early years of their ministry. They began their ministry in a small community in August 1934. One cold morning in October of that year, they found themselves sitting on a small trunk by the side of the road. They had no money and no place to live. Everything they owned was in that trunk. By faith, they overcame, and because of their dedication and determination, they developed many leadership qualities, which guided them throughout their lives. This is an account of their early years in ministry and some of the leadership qualities that contributed to almost fifty years of full-time ministry throughout Newfoundland. One of the greatest challenges that Mom and Dad ever faced came in 1950, when I was thirteen years of age, and medical doctors at the General Hospital in St. Johns, Newfoundland, told them that there was no hope or cure for my condition and that I would only live for a few weeks.

Christ Centered Leadership written by David L. McKenna and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-05-09 with Religion categories.

"If a leader is a Christian, what difference does it make?" Giant strides have been made in secular leadership theory toward a Christian viewpoint. Priority is now given to character as well as competence, accountability as well as power, transformation as well as transaction, and servanthood as well as success. But these qualities apply to secular as well as to Christian leadership. So, the question remains, "What difference does it make?" David McKenna finds the answer in the Incarnation of Jesus Christ--a divine act for him and a defining attitude for us. Philippians 2:11-15 sets the standard and gives the details. "Your attitude should be the same as Jesus Christ" means following his call to the cross, where we die to self and sacrifice all self-interest in position, power, and prestige in order to serve obediently, faithfully, and humbly for the good of others and the glory of God. Christ-centered leadership is not an extension of the highest and best of human leadership. Radical obedience to the call of Christ and utter dependence upon the Holy Spirit make a substantive difference. In the most practical terms, Incarnation continues in us when we live fully, lead freely, and go where he wants us to go.

This digital collection, curated by Harvard Business Review, offers four books on the topic of emotional intelligence, found by bestselling author Daniel Goleman to be twice as important as other competencies in determining outstanding leadership. In Primal Leadership, With a New Preface by the Authors, the authors show that great leaders excel not just through skill and smarts, but by connecting with others using emotional intelligence competencies like empathy and self-awareness. The best leaders are “resonant” leaders—individuals who manage their own and others’ emotions in ways that drive success. In Resonant Leadership, Richard Boyatzis and Annie McKee provide an indispensable guide to overcoming the vicious cycle of stress, sacrifice, and dissonance that afflicts many leaders and offer a field-tested framework for creating the resonance that fuels great leadership. And in Becoming a Resonant Leader, Annie McKee, Richard Boyatzis, and Frances Johnston share vivid, real-life stories illuminating how people can develop emotional intelligence, build resonance, and renew themselves. Finally, HBR’s 10 Must Read on Emotional Intelligence presents 10 articles by experts in the field of emotional intelligence, all of which will inspire you to monitor and channel your moods and emotions; make smart, empathetic people decisions; manage conflict and regulate emotions within your team; react to tough situations with resilience; better understand your strengths, weaknesses, needs, values, and goals; and develop emotional agility.

Give Up The Purple written by Julyan Lidstone and has been published by Langham Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-31 with Religion categories.

It would seem that every culture on earth has a propensity towards controlling and authoritarian leadership – at its very core, the human condition has a desire for control and self-determination. In this book, Julyan Lidstone uses his decades of experience in western and central Asia and, most importantly, the authoritative teaching of the Bible, to shed light on issues of authoritarian leadership in honour-shame cultures. Gifted young leaders are gathering new believers in Jesus all over the world but the prevailing culture of domineering leadership is the single greatest obstacle to the healthy growth and firm establishment of these new churches. Lidstone winsomely and accurately applies the servant leadership modelled by Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul, as revealed by Scripture, as the cross-centred antidote to the pain, damage and disillusionment caused by leadership that does not reflect the Christlikeness of the kingdom of God.
