‘Development in the science of the spirit will always … involve what we may call developing the inner meaning and inner configuration of our language.’ – Rudolf Steiner Our present-day language cannot easily convey spiritual concepts. Rudolf Steiner’s search for the words and style to bring to expression a contemporary spiritual worldview epitomises this. In seven organically developing chapters, this little book presents Martina Maria Sam’s long-standing research into this subject. As a writer, editor and lecturer she observed the increasing difficulty that many people – particularly those with an academic training – have with Steiner’s style. However, this style was something that Rudolf Steiner developed very deliberately. As she states: ‘What was most important for me in this was to point out Rudolf Steiner’s intentions in his specific and often original linguistic forms and, consequently, to create the introductory basis for a deeper understanding.’ Gaining such understanding, she says, can in turn enable us to develop insight into the spirit. Sam begins by quoting some of Steiner’s contemporaries, who criticized his ‘grating’ style. She describes why he had to create new forms of expression and examines the specific character of his lectures. She considers two comprehensive stylistic principles that permeate Steiner’s entire body of work, and his special handling of the pictorial element in language. Close attention is paid to Rudolf Steiner’s construction of meditative verses and mantras, and the development of an artistic, linguistically-creative element that will only be possible in the future.

Reader's Reviews "This book has lifted my head and put fire back in my belly. I highly recommend this book for all Christians whether new or old in the faith. Long years in Christian ministry is no protection from feeling weak. David's book has awakened me. Thank you so much. You have encouraged me to press in to God again." By T&J in Oxon "Excellent, well written, yet simple easy to understand and also very stirring makes you want to put everything into practice straight away." By V. Clarke "Packed With Great Revelation. I truly was inspired. It is a very worthwhile read about this gift, and I do recommend it. Answers many questions." By Pooh Bear (Tokyo, Japan) "Typical David Lee Martin - Biblical & Practical. David obviously has a great prayer life. You just 'know it' from the way he writes on prayer. His approach is always Biblical and practical. He seems to get across the principles of what he is teaching and yet leaves room for each individuals own expression. His quotes from great men and women of God are much more than just a nice bonus with each one presenting its own challenge." By Bob Collard Speaking God's Language - A Guide To Speaking In Tongues is a spiritually charged practical guide to praying in tongues. Taking the Scriptures you will learn what the Bible teaches about the supernatural gift of speaking in tongues, and how you can unleash its power in your own life. Some call it glossolalia (the scientific term for this supernatural manifestation), but most often it is called speaking in tongues or praying in tongues. Whatever you call it, it is a very real, and very powerful, reality in the everyday lives of literally multitudes of believers in Jesus Christ. maybe you are one of them? maybe you just want to find out more about this 'strange' supernatural occurrence. Maybe you want to speak in tongues yourself. Whichever one of these is true of you, Speaking God's language contains answers that you have been looking for. Praying in tongues remains one of the most powerful, practical and helpful gifts that God has ever given, and when understood and appreciated for all that the Scriptures teach us about it, can be utilised to engage spiritually on many levels; we pray to build our own personal spirit life, and to be refreshed in our inner man; we also speak in tongues to pray for others, and release prophetic anointing and destiny into our circumstances - and those of our cities and nations. This one gift alone is packed with enough power to turn the world upside down! Maybe this is why the devil resists it so consistently. I encourage you to grab hold of the principles in this booklet, and apply them in your own pursuit of God. As James encourages us in his letter to the Church: "...the effective, fervent prayers of righteous men and women avail much, making tremendous power available (dynamic in its working)." James 5:14, Amplified Be blessed as you read. How to build yourself up spiritually through praying in tongues. How to interpret your tongues. How to receive spiritual refreshment through speaking in tongues. In 1924, Rudolf Steiner established the School of Spiritual Science within the framework of the newly reestablished Anthroposophical Society. This book represents a beginning attempt at describing the nature, intent, and methods of this pioneering school and its place in modern culture. It describes the school's three prerequisites for membership and studies its connection with the Anthroposophical Society and the anthroposophic movement. It also examines the role of its "First Class" in relation to Rudolf Steiner's original intentions and the responsibilities of its representatives. The bulk of the book involves descriptions of the various sections in the School of Spiritual Science, contributed by those who are currently their leaders. These descriptions indicate how the school connects with daily work in various areas of life, in keeping with an esotericism based on the idea that "life and its depths can be confronted in the most energetic way." Also featured is practical information, including a description of the process for becoming a member and an appendix containing significant statements by Rudolf Steiner. In keeping with the transparency that Steiner requested from the outset, this book is suitable for anyone interested in the School of Spiritual Science.

The first glimpse of the sea on Marine Drive filled my heart, if not my head. I turned away from the red shadow. I stopped thinking of that pyramid of killers, and Sanjay's improvidence. I stopped thinking about my own part in the madness. And I rode, with my friends, into the end of everything. Shantaram introduced millions of readers to a cast of unforgettable characters through Lin, an Australian fugitive, working as a passport forger for a branch of the Bombay mafia. In The Mountain Shadow, the long-awaited sequel, Lin must find his way in a Bombay run by a different generation of mafia dons, playing by a different set of rules. It has been two years since the events in Shantaram, and since Lin lost two people he had come to love: his father figure, Khaderbhai, and his soul mate, Karla, married to a handsome Indian media tycoon. Lin returns from a smuggling trip to a city that seems to have changed too much, too soon. Many of his old friends are long gone, the new mafia leadership has become entangled in increasingly violent and dangerous intrigues, and a fabled holy man challenges everything that Lin thought he'd learned about love and life. But Lin can't leave the Island City: Karla, and a fatal promise, won't let him go.

Profound changes in society, government policy and the political landscape, as well as cataclysmic events such as 9/11, have greatly altered perceptions of faith schools and their existence now causes more controversy than ever. Taking a reflective practice approach, this study by people working within faith schools and colleges explores the new hot issues surrounding the subject in a sophisticated way. Looking at the supposed secularisation of the West, the nature of the multi-cultural and multi-faith society, the role of women, the spiritual development of children and most of all, the form that the tolerance of religious diversity should take in liberal societies, this book encourages readers to re-examine their assumptions and to consider faith schools as a part of the future of the English schooling system, within a multi-cultural society. This book was previously published as a special issue of The International Journal of Children's Spirituality.

Children S Spirituality And Traditions written by Elaine Champagne and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-04-16 with Religion categories.

Do traditions contribute to children’s spirituality? Why and how so? From theoretical and practical considerations, this book explores children’s weaving of and distancing from family, cultural, educational, and religious traditions. It examines the transformational relationship between traditions and young people’s lives and spirituality and pursues answers to the following questions: What kind of traditions influences young people’s spirituality and how are those influences exerted? How and under the influence of whom do children develop their own worldviews and their own sets of values? How does that contribute to their identity building? How is children’s spirituality connected to traditions? The chapters in this book seek answers to these questions by delving into the varied influences that contribute to children’s spiritual development such as: construction of identities, the role of rituals, fables and symbols, subcultures and new religious movements, neoliberal educational practices and the importance of play and languages in spirituality experienced by both the children and the young. Insightful and thought-provoking, this book will be a key resource for practitioners, researchers and scholars in theology and religious studies, early childhood and education, education, developmental psychology, and children’s studies, and will also appeal to anyone interested in understanding the relationship between traditions and young people’s lives. The chapters included in this book were originally published in the International Journal of Children's Spirituality.
