Annotation The American president's character matters. To most Americans, it matters deeply. But how do we define what character means, and why can't we agree? In this sober, probing consideration of "the character factor" and the presidency, veteran political analyst James P. Pfiffner leads us through a survey of three aspects of presidential character that have proved problematic for recent chief executives: lies, promise-keeping, and sexual probity. His goal is not to tell us which presidents have been "good" and which "bad." Rather, he helps us think critically and impartially about complex character issues and invites us to reach our own conclusions. The Character Factor avoids both moral judgments and cynicism. It helps us look at our presidents (and our presidential candidates) without illusions, knowing that flawed men can still be great leaders but that some flaws deserve defeat at the polls--or even the ultimate presidential sanction, impeachment.

"What creates success? Is it skill? Talent? Ambition? Luck? Expertise? Perhaps it's knowing the right people, saying the right things or simply being at the right place at the right time. It's none of the above. While a variety of factors form our abilities and influence the events in our lives, there is only one thing that creates genuine success: character. Character is a unique set of moral and ethical qualities that define what you believe in, what you stand for, and what you expect of yourself and others. London asserts that how you act on these qualities -- your statement of character -- will determine how far you will go; whether you will succeed or fail. Success is also distinctively defined as acting with honesty and integrity, performing to the best of your ability, and appreciating the people who helped you achieve your goals. Character : the ultimate success factor demonstrates how character -- expressed through attitude, action, and resilience -- drives success. Just some of the simple and tangible lessons covered by London include: assessing your attitude; aligning yourself with the right people and organizations; envisioning goals; identifying opportunities; embracing change; speaking up; making decisions; accepting risk; overcoming fear; creating momentum. Based on the personal, corporate and military experiences of Dr. J. Phillip London, a successful defense industry executive, as well as many other real-life examples, this book presents the time-tested lessons behind character-driven success"--Dust jacket.

TO COMPUTER GRAPHICS BASED ONGKS Part I gives an introduction to basic concepts of computer graph ics and to the principles and concepts of GKS. The aims of this part are twofold: to provide the beginner with an overview of the terminology and concepts of computer graphics, based on GKS, and to give the computer graphics expert an introduc tion to the GKS standard. In the early chapters of this part, the main areas of computer graphics, the various classes of com puter graphics users, the interfaces of GKS and its underlying design concepts are discussed and important terms are defined. The later chapters give an informal introduction to the main concepts of GKS and their interrelationships: output, attributes, coordinate systems, transformations, input, segments, metafile, state lists, and error handling. This introduction to the GKS framework will prepare the ground for the detailed description of 2D GKS functions in Part III and the 3D extensions to GKS in Part IV. 1 WHAT IS COMPUTER GRAPHICS? 1. 1 Defmition of Computer Graphics The Data Processing Vocabulary of the International Organization for Stan dardization (ISO) [ISO 84] defines Computer Graphics as follows: "Methods and techniques for converting data to and from a graphic display via computer. " This definition refers to three basic components of any computer graphics system - namely "data", "computer", and "display".

A practical guide to understanding the latest features of the Rust programming language, useful libraries, and frameworks that will help you design and develop interesting projects Key FeaturesWork through projects that will help you build high-performance applications with RustDelve into concepts such as error handling, memory management, concurrency, generics, and macros with RustImprove business productivity by choosing the right libraries and frameworks for your applicationsBook Description Rust is a community-built language that solves pain points present in many other languages, thus improving performance and safety. In this book, you will explore the latest features of Rust by building robust applications across different domains and platforms. The book gets you up and running with high-quality open source libraries and frameworks available in the Rust ecosystem that can help you to develop efficient applications with Rust. You'll learn how to build projects in domains such as data access, RESTful web services, web applications, 2D games for web and desktop, interpreters and compilers, emulators, and Linux Kernel modules. For each of these application types, you'll use frameworks such as Actix, Tera, Yew, Quicksilver, ggez, and nom. This book will not only help you to build on your knowledge of Rust but also help you to choose an appropriate framework for building your project. By the end of this Rust book, you will have learned how to build fast and safe applications with Rust and have the real-world experience you need to advance in your career. What you will learnAccess TOML, JSON, and XML files and SQLite, PostgreSQL, and Redis databasesDevelop a RESTful web service using JSON payloadsCreate a web application using HTML templates and JavaScript and a frontend web application or web game using WebAssemblyBuild desktop 2D gamesDevelop an interpreter and a compiler for a programming languageCreate a machine language emulatorExtend the Linux Kernel with loadable modulesWho this book is for This Rust programming book is for developers who want to get hands-on experience with implementing their knowledge of Rust programming, and are looking for expert advice on which libraries and frameworks they can adopt to develop software that typically uses the Rust language.

Mathematical Statistics written by Dieter Rasch and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-03-19 with Mathematics categories.

Explores mathematical statistics in its entirety—from the fundamentals to modern methods This book introduces readers to point estimation, confidence intervals, and statistical tests. Based on the general theory of linear models, it provides an in-depth overview of the following: analysis of variance (ANOVA) for models with fixed, random, and mixed effects; regression analysis is also first presented for linear models with fixed, random, and mixed effects before being expanded to nonlinear models; statistical multi-decision problems like statistical selection procedures (Bechhofer and Gupta) and sequential tests; and design of experiments from a mathematical-statistical point of view. Most analysis methods have been supplemented by formulae for minimal sample sizes. The chapters also contain exercises with hints for solutions. Translated from the successful German text, Mathematical Statistics requires knowledge of probability theory (combinatorics, probability distributions, functions and sequences of random variables), which is typically taught in the earlier semesters of scientific and mathematical study courses. It teaches readers all about statistical analysis and covers the design of experiments. The book also describes optimal allocation in the chapters on regression analysis. Additionally, it features a chapter devoted solely to experimental designs. Classroom-tested with exercises included Practice-oriented (taken from day-to-day statistical work of the authors) Includes further studies including design of experiments and sample sizing Presents and uses IBM SPSS Statistics 24 for practical calculations of data Mathematical Statistics is a recommended text for advanced students and practitioners of math, probability, and statistics.
