The Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany. The pre-Christmas fair on Nurembergs main market square can be traced back to the middle of the 16th century. Martin Luther promoted the Christ Child or Christkindl as a gift bringer and the date of giving gifts changed from December 6 to Christmas Eve. But now she has strong competition from Santa Claus as gift bringer. You men and women who were once children too, be children again, says the Christkind, as she greets her guests on Nurembergs Main Market Square to open the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt.

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Business economics - Marketing, Corporate Communication, CRM, Market Research, Social Media, grade: 1,0, University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg, language: English, abstract: This thesis investigates the quality of service at the Christkindlesmarkt Nuremberg and reveals how the sociocultural factors region, gender and age influence the visitors’ perception of service quality. The results provide support for using a two-dimensional model to measure service quality at the Christkindlesmarkt. Based on the findings of the study, this work provides recommendations for improvement. The results of the study enhance the understanding about the service quality on the Christkindlesmarkt Nuremberg. Overall, the findings emphasize that when investigating service quality, considering variables pertaining to the individual characteristics of the visitors and the service itself is of major importance. The Christkindlesmarkt Nuremberg is the most famous Christmas market in Germany and is one of the most famous landmarks of the city. Every year, more than two million people from all over the world visit the market. However, the competition among the German Christmas markets is increasing. The markets in eastern Germany are catch-ing up and threating the supremacy of the Christkindlesmarkt Nuremberg. The Christkindlesmarkt is a complex service comprised of several interdependent sub-services. Visitors to the Christkindlesmarkt, especially those who are not from Nuremberg or the metropolitan area, invest time and money to see the market and can only get intangible satisfaction in return. The visitors’ final evaluations of service quality are strongly affected by their subjective expectations and experiences. In consideration of the fierce competition, delivering high quality service that results in satisfied customers can give the Christkindlesmarkt a sustainable competitive advantage. It is therefore vital for the operators of the market to be aware of the current perception of service quality. This thesis aims to assess which instrument is appropriate for evaluating the service quality at the Christkindlesmarkt and appraise the market accordingly. This research assesses the relative influence of different service quality dimensions on overall satisfaction. Therefore, the research groups different aspects of service quality on the Christkindlesmarkt and their relative influence is computed by running a multiple regression analysis.

Christmas Market Munich. The largest and oldest Christmas market in Munich was first documented as a Nikolaimarkt (Nikolausmarkt) in 1310, making it one of the oldest Christmas markets in the German-speaking world. It started as the Welcoming of Christ the Child - "Christ Kind" in German - at the beginning of the four Sundays of Advent that ends with Christmas Day, which is the 25 December. The Christmas market is a fair connected with the seasonal period and infused with our religion, which very much organized everybody's lives back then.In Medieval times, rights to hold fairs were often granted by the feudal lords to convents and bishoprics both as income generation for the religious work and as a city development tool. Many towns trace their prosperity to the market rights. The close association between the local cathedral and the Christmas market is still evident although the taxes now go elsewhere. The Christmas market tradition has been revived and has now become a major holiday event. It has become a source of entertainment and enjoyment not only for the city and its local lands but for visitors from many other countries. Christmas markets have especially developed lightning to spread merriment in the dark Winter months and they vie with each other to be the best.

"Reporting the Nuremburg Trials is steeped in reverence for an era in journalism faintly lit by modern history despite its many parallels to today. Fletcher again and again reveals lessons for today's real-time news cycles, including the perils of misinformation, professional subterfuge and abbreviated ethics." — Jesse Garnier, Journalism Chair and Associate Professor, San Francisco State University For the first time, journalists who shared details about Nazi crimes from the International Military Tribunal, better known as the Nuremberg Trial, have their own story told. As World War II in Europe drew to a close in 1945, the Allies prepared to hold Nazi leaders accountable for crimes against humanity and selected Nuremberg as the site for the trial. The U.S. military took the lead in refurbishing a courtroom and making accommodations for 325 journalists and 23 defendants plus Allied judges, prosecutors, translators and administrative staff. Because publicity was a main consideration, the latest innovations and technology were incorporated into the courtroom to enhance news coverage of the trial. Press passes were in demand worldwide for courtroom seats. A press pool was selected to witness the executions in which 10 criminals were hung on Oct. 16, 1946. Famous war correspondents and young journalists who later became household names were headquartered in a castle, explored bombed ruins and faced dangers as a lingering spirit of Nazism seethed within the city. The lengthy trial became an excruciating endurance test for journalists by the time it ended (far longer than expected) on Oct. 1, 1946, setting a precedent for coverage of subsequent justice at Nuremberg. The author, a long-time journalist and former foreign correspondent, provides an insider’s look at how the news was gathered and conveyed. The book is based on extensive research and insights gathered from Nuremberg, including at the location where the journalists were housed and at the courtroom itself.
