God is sovereign and eternal, and he created for us a world in which we arrive and begin a pilgrimage, a journey, that ultimately leads us back to our Lord in eternity. Today this world has been darkened by confusion, and our journeys can be interrupted or even cut short. Yet in this finite, earthly world, God has provided a place of refuge that is spiritual in essence and eternal in existenceand this amazing place of hope and joy is his church. In The Church God Designed, author Edward L. Maxwell outlines the arrangements God has made for our glorious return back to our place of origin. Although we think of the church as a physical place, the design of the church was based on a divine plan that was established in eternity past by a spiritual and eternal beingand this design is far beyond human reasoning, involves knowledge that is far beyond human intellect, and requires power far beyond human ability. Therefore, the only church that is true in the divine eyes of God is the very one he planned, designed, and built. We are but the living stones of the spiritual house God has provided for us, and it is only the church God has designed that can guide us back to him. God has provided the means for our redemption and the process to obtain it, and it is impossible for us to manufacture that which God gives his only Son the authority to do.

What Is the Church? Foundational Truths from God's Word At the beginning of the twentieth century, Christians in Africa numbered approximately nine million—by the end, that number had grown to more than 380 million. As the number of Christians continues to grow, African pastors are often overwhelmed and in desperate need of guidance. Drawing from three decades of pastoral experience in Zambia, Conrad Mbewe has written a comprehensive handbook specifically for African pastors and church leaders. Structured around twenty commonly asked questions about God's design for the church, this helpful resource covers topics ranging from the definition of church and the role of church members to the importance of doctrine. Through this book, Mbewe aims to equip pastors and leaders with biblical principles that will "permeate the landscape of Africa and transform its churches for generations to come." Published in partnership with the Gospel Coalition.

All too many people are disappointed with the church, struggle with the church, or have already left the church. For example, Josh is the father of a young family. The demands (and illnesses) that go along with little children, traveling, friends coming for weekend visits and general busyness have kept him from getting his family very involved in church. Mason is an extremely successful businessman. He thinks the church is slow and inefficient. He shows up most weeks because his wife wants him to, but he hangs out with wealthy friends from around the country. They get together on a regular basis, pay for a speaker to come and talk to them and call it good. Jerry’s is aware that he is not supposed to stop assembling together with other believers, but that is what he is doing, so what’s the big deal? Mark is a single young adult who was coming to church and was getting involved, but his girlfriend pulled him away from church and hehas no rationale for why he should fight to stay involved. He drifted away and although people told him he needed to stay connected, he didn’t see why they were so concerned. Char is a high school girl who doesn’t like the youth group at church and only comes because her parents make her. She has asked her parents why she has to go to church and they haven’t been able to give her a good answer, except that it is something that she needs to do. In each of these cases, if they might not naturally pick up this book, Josh’s brother, Mason’s son-in-law, Mark’s friend and Char’s dad can give it to them to read. Or these who have influence with them can read it themselves to have a better understanding of the absolute necessity of active participation in a local church so that they could share verbally.Pollster George Barna claims in Revolution, that millions of American Christians are moving away from the traditional local church to alternative Christian communities or to no community at all. Leadership Journal published an article that argues that people want to turn to places other than the local church for community and teaching. The Pew Report released a study showing the number of people switching churches and those with no church affiliation has grown considerably. This is a very important and issue that needs to be addressed. This book addresses the issue so that church or parachurch small groups can read together and discuss the questions at the end of chapters. The book is designed to help readers more deeply value church and what church ought to look like. Five short chapters provide a helpful overview of the case for the church, using scripture and illustrated with stories from real life.

The Church of the Living God is the only organization in this world that will transcend to the next world and throughout all eternity. Everything else in this world will vanish away, but God's Church will last for all eternity - now and forever. God has structured the Church and everyone must know what that stricture is. The information in this book has been divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit, because Scripture is used to answer Scripture. It is based on what God says, with Scriptures that make it plain. The information in this timeless book will change a Church, a ministry, and also change a Believer's personal walk with the Lord. It is group worthy, as well as individual worthy of study because God has His Blueprint for His Church, and it is all hidden in Scriptures, and being able to interpret the language of the Author, which is the Holy Spirit, will lead us in the wealth of Spiritual prosperity. The Holy Spirit is the Designer of God's Blueprint for His Church and He wants us all to understand His way because no prophecy of the Scriptures is of private interpretation. He wants us to know how we are individually, and collectively designed, and knowing this will transform us into His glorious Church. This book will help you recognize your place in the Body of Christ, His Church, as He works on us individually and collectively, "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ," (Ephesians 4:13). This book is profitable for individual, Church, and group studies. It will help you see the spiritual construction from beginning to end, from start to finish, and we will stand in awe of this great Architect, the designer of our souls, God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

How does one summarize the thirty-nine books of the Old Testament? How might one determine the message of the Old Testament with others? This book attempts an answer to these questions. The answer is taken from a single Scripture passage, Exodus 5:22-6:8, which is here considered a theological "Table of Contents" for the Old Testament. In addition to such topics as Deliverance, Community, and Experiencing God, the book has an extended discussion on "Land," a subject which deals with a wide range of interests but which only rarely receives attention in books on biblical theology. The current edition features reflections and a set of discussion questions following each of the seventeen chapters--a boon for university and seminary teachers and students, and of large help for church study groups.
