Where Two Or More written by James Brian Banks and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Prayer groups categories.

This work emphasizes the vital importance of united prayer for the church. It begins with the observation that churches do not pray together as they once did, and maintains that there is a correlation between a lack of united prayer and culture becoming increasingly hostile to Christianity. The author maintains that through united prayer, God offers the opportunity to achieve progress which will not occur through any other means. After examining biblical precedents for praying together in the Old and New Testaments, including the life of Jesus and the practice of the early church, this work assesses the challenge of maintaining a practical balance between prayer and action in the life of the church and individual believers. Using a number of examples and anecdotes from the history of the church, the author offers several concepts for implementing united prayer in the local church. This project concludes with an examination of the biblical concept of perseverance in prayer, and the interactive relationship between our prayers and the will of God. Several appendices provide chapter study questions, resources for united prayer, a design for a simple prayer meeting, and a covenant for Christians desiring to pray together.

What is the role of corporate prayer in the church? Prayer is as necessary to the Christian as breathing is to the human body— but it often doesn't come quite as naturally. In fact, prayer in the church often gets subtly pushed to the side in favor of pragmatic practices that promise tangible results. This book focuses on the necessity of regular prayer as a central practice in the local church—awakening us to the need and blessing of corporate prayer by examining what Jesus taught about prayer, how the first Christians approached prayer, and how to prioritize prayer in our congregations.

Praying Together written by Megan Hill and has been published by Crossway this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-14 with Religion categories.

Nearly all Christians would affirm the centrality of prayer for a healthy Christian life. And yet, for many, prayer is often a challenge, requiring intense personal commitment and self-discipline. However, as Megan Hill points out in Praying Together, our normal approach to prayer leaves out a crucial component: other people. While personal prayer is important, God designed the church to be a community of believers who regularly pray together. Exploring the Bible's rich teaching on what it means to gather at God's throne with one voice, Hill lays a theological foundation for corporate prayer and offers practical guidance for making it a reality—in our families, churches, and communities.

"Lord, teach us to pray," every small group, from Jesus' to yours, has asked. Prayer is intimidating—what do you say to the God of the universe? How do you listen to Someone you can't see? Add other voices to the mix and prayer becomes downright scary—one more opportunity to feel like an idiot in front of your small group, or one more opportunity to highlight the differences between you. And yet prayer is a gift from God to all of us, and group prayer binds us to one another in ways that no other activity can. In Together in Prayer Andrew R. Wheeler lays the groundwork for establishing a responsible, meaningful prayer ministry in your small group. Here you'll find guidelines for praying in groups, common pitfalls of communal prayer and suggestions for spurring your group onward. Comprehensive in its scope, thoughtful in its approach and practical in its insights, Together in Prayer serves as an authoritative guide for your group to embrace and enhance prayer together.
