2012 Reprint of Original Three Volume s First Published from 1905-1907. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This is a collection of Crowley's early esoteric writings and poetry and comprise the first collected edition of his writings. Aleister Crowley, born Edward Alexander Crowley, and also known as both Frater Perdurabo and The Great Beast, was an influential English occultist, mystic, ceremonial magician, poet and mountaineer, who was responsible for founding the religious philosophy of Thelema. In his role as the founder of the Thelemite philosophy, he came to see himself as the prophet who was entrusted with informing humanity that it was entering the new Aeon of Horus in the early 20th century. Born into a wealthy upper class family, as a young man he became an influential member of the esoteric Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn after befriending the order's leader, Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers. Subsequently believing that he was being contacted by his Holy Guardian Angel, an entity known as Aiwass, while staying in Egypt in 1904, he "received" a text known as 'The Book of the Law' from what he believed was a divine source, and around which he would come to develop his new philosophy of Thelema. He would go on to found his own occult society and eventually rose to become a leader of Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.), before founding a religious commune in Cefalu known as the Abbey of Thelema, which he led from 1920 through till 1923. After abandoning the Abbey amid widespread opposition, Crowley returned to Britain, where he continued to promote Thelema until his death. Crowley has remained an influential figure and is widely thought of as the most influential occultist of all time. Includes: Volume 1. Aceldama. The tale of Archais. Songs of the spirit. The poem. The Collected Works of Aleister Crowley 1905-1907 was originally a trilogy of books published by Aleister Crowley during his early career as student of magick. The first volume was published in 1905 but contains his poems and plays between 1898 and 1902 and is what he admits to be his juvenilia. It is noted at the beginning: The great bulk of MSS. from 1887 to 1897 have been sedulously sought out and destroyed. They were very voluminous. Most of these early works show little in the way of magic but are an introduction to Crowley's knowledge of religion and mythology. It's interesting to see how, after Crowley's first book White Stains was banned and pulped, his consequent works of 1898 were quite mellow, almost gothic and Christian, with the first two hiding behind the pseudonym "A Gentlemen of the University of Cambridge" (no doubt after Percy Shelley's "A Gentlemen of the University of Oxford" for similar reasons). Aceldama, named after the place where Judas hanged himself ("the field of blood") is a philosophical lament that sees sin as the only abyss of life. The Tale of Archais is a dramatic love poem telling the story of Charicles and Archais, a girl condemned to turn into a snake. Charicles prays to his mother Aphrodite to change him into a beautiful girl to lure Zeus' love and make him vow to change into a mortal for him/her, this then so Archais can bite and finally kill Zeus to lift the curse. The allusions to adultery and the Christian God are obvious in this comedy. After Songs of the Spirit the poems pick up Crowley's love of adulterous sex in the name of sin with the likes of "The Honourable Adulterers", "The Five Kisses" (both in Mysteries) and Jezebel and other Tragic Poems (in fact the word "tragedy" was added to these pieces, along with their own pseudonyms "A.E.C" and "Count Vladimir Svareff", again to protect Crowley's early reputation. He knew in himself they were actually comedies)The Temple of the Holy Ghost is a fusing of the poems in The Mother's Tragedy and other Poems and The Soul of Osiris: A History and now introduces Golden Dawn allusions, Sanskrit yoga terms, qabbalistic terms and Egyptian mythology. It was this latter book that was reviewed by the British poet and writer G. K. Chesterton quite polemically that led to Crowley's early feud with him.The last piece, Tannhäuser: A Story of all Time, ends Crowley's amateur stage and tells the legend of the Christian knight Tannhäuser, already expressed by Wagner. Crowley's source for the tale was probably the occult scholar Arthur Edward Waite. Tannhäuser in the play leaves his Christian community and his childhood darling Elizabeth for the mysteries of Egypt and the God beyond time. Oddly, Crowley once stated that this play contained the theory of special relativity only Einstein usurped the phenomenon in 1905 by being more blatant.

"Teach us Your real secret, Master! how to become invisible, how to acquire love, and oh! beyond all, how to make gold.” Fans of Aleister Crowley are in for a treat. Included in this first volume of Crowley's Collected Works: THE BOOK OF THE LAW – SPECIAL EDITION Dictated to Crowley in Cairo between noon and 1:00p.m. on three successive days in April 1904, The Book of the Law is the source book and key for Crowley students and for the occult in general. The holy text that forms the basis of Crowley's belief system, Thelema, was transmitted to him by the entity known as Aiwass over the course of three fateful April days in 1904. With his wife Rose as the medium for what would become known as the Cairo Working, Crowley dutifully transcribed the communications on hotel stationery. The pamphlet has since passed into occult legend. Its full title is Liber AL vel Legis, sub figura CCXX, as delivered by XCIII=418 to DCLXVI, and it is commonly referred to as The Book of the Law. Although the "messenger" of AL was Aiwass, Aiwass presents the Book as an expression of three god-forms of the three chapters, Nuit, Hadit, and Ra-Hoor-Khuit. 'The Book of the Law' has been fully optimized for the Kindle in a special edition that includes an active table of contents and an image gallery showcasing the history of occult symbolism. THE BOOK OF LIES – SPECIAL EDITION The esoteric masterpiece by one of the foremost mystics of all times. Complete with commentary and explanation for each chapter from Mr. Crowley. As Crowley describes it: "This book deals with many matters on all planes of the very highest importance. It is an official publication for Babes of the Abyss, but is recommended even to beginners as highly suggestive. Chapter 44 of the book describes the ritual named the Mass of the Phoenix. This is not a facsimile but a fully updated edition optimized for E-readers which fully replicates the authenticity of the original, down to Crowley's typos and unorthodox formatting. DIARY OF A DRUG FIEND “Her eyes glittered, her lips twittered, her cheeks glowed like fresh blown buds in spring. She was the spirit of cocaine incarnate; cocaine made flesh. Her mere existence made the Universe infinitely exciting. I was aware of nothing but a passionate craving for drugs. I wanted them physically as I had never wanted anything in my life before. I wanted them mentally, too. They, and they only, would clear my mind of its confusion, and show me a way out of this rotten mess.” Often overlooked in discussions of the great narcotics memoirs, Crowley's rarely read 1922 work deserves to be mentioned alongside such addiction classics as 'Confessions of an English Opium Eater,' 'Naked Lunch,' 'Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas' and 'Trainspotting.' Crowley's 'diary' is a hilarious, outrageous drug-fueled romp but also offers fascinating first-hand insight into early recreational heroin and cocaine use. Not long after its publication, the British press dubbed Crowley “The Wickedest Man In The World.” Follow the harrowing escapades of lovers Peter Pendragon and Louise Laleham as they embark on a drug-fueled bender through Europe and encounter the enigmatic magician who could save them. All three occult classics for one unbeatable price!
