The Committed Enterprise represents Hugh Davidson's major statement on what makes a sustainable and excellent organization. It is based on over a year of intense fieldwork during which the author interviewed in person the most senior executives in 126 organizations in the US and Europe. It is much easier to describe vision and values than implement them. Vision and values management is in the dark ages compared with that of Marketing, Finance or Operations. It is often derided and all too often just doesn't work. The Committed Enterprise takes a hard approach to this 'soft' topic and describes how to build unstoppable organisations, whether businesses or charities, hospitals or orchestras, by managing vision and values scientifically yet creatively. It shows how to lay the foundations for success by understanding the conflicting needs of stakeholders and uniting them through the right vision and values. These forge uncompromising commitment, and transform organizations, teams and countries. Hugh Davidson details Seven Best Practices for making vision and values work every day, at every level, based on analysis of his interviews with leaders of 125 high calibre enterprises in USA and UK. These include: · Design and timing · Linkage to key success factors · Communicating through action · Embedding via appraisal and rewards · Branding the organization · Rigorous measurement Using a unique fast track / scenic route format, the book includes hundreds of examples, quotes and checklists from enterprises as diverse as PepsiCo, Caltech, Tesco, Mayo Clinic, BP, New York Police Department, DuPont, Save the Children, UPS, New York Philharmonic, and many others. The Committed Enterprise brings a new dimension to managing organisations. It is designed for leaders and managers of every kind of enterprise. So buy it, read it, then make it happen!

This book offers a broad overview of the topic of the European enterprise: It ex- ines what the Europeanenterpriseis or might be, whetheror not it exists, and,if not, if tendencies towards its emergence can be discerned or not. To indicate the results just brie?y already: There is de?nitely a movement in that direction, one which has accelerated during the past few years; however, there is not a large numbersof ?rms which are taking part in this movement yet, and the movement is also characterized by cases of backlash and phases of stagnation. There is probably only one characteristic of Europe on which all persons – re- ers as well as contributors – would agree: Diversity. Europe is more diverse than any other region of the world of the same size. The same holds true, naturally, for views on and perceptions of Europe. No single person is in a position to provide all different views simultaneously. Thus, in order to encompass this variation, the v- ume was designed as an effort of many: Its 20 different contributions were written by 26 different persons, representing 13 different nationalities, including the United States of America and Japan. As a counterbalance to this diversity, the introduction provides a general focus and the conclusion the common results of the combined efforts.

This book includes all papers presented at the colloquium on Church and State on 28 February and 1-2 March 2001. The colloquium, focusing on the legal position of churches, the autonomy of churches in modern societies and recent tendencies in jurisprudence, was organised by the Faculty of Canon Law of the Catholic University Leuven in collaboration with the Faculty of Theology of the University of Stellenbosch. Both the conference and the book have two objectives. The fist is informing about the South African history on Church and State relationships and its current situation under the new Constitution. The second objective is to search for models leading to a new equilibrium between Church and State in South Africa. Models offered by other countries are examined as a point of reference or as a possible source of inspiration. International scholars and academics, church Ministers as well as leading politicians offer their viewpoints and enter into debate with each other.

The Organisation Of The Fight Against Corruption In The Member States And Candidate Countries Of The European Union written by Tom Beken and has been published by Maklu this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Law categories.
Within the framework of the European Commission's Falcone programme, a study of the organisation of the fight against corruption in the Member States and candidate countries of the European Union was established by Ghent University. The results of the study can be found in this book, which provides a comparative analysis of anti-corruption arrangements across 24 European States. In addition to this it includes the full texts as provided by the experts selected to contribute both to the volume itself and the accompanying two-day meeting in Ghent, Belgium. The collection and publication of these reports supports one of the two central aims of the project: to assist in furthering mutual knowledge and understanding of the legal frameworks and organisations that are tasked with the fight against corruption across the European Union and candidate countries. This collection also reflects the second central aim of the project which was to assist in the formation of a wide network of people involved in anti-corruption efforts. For this reason the provided texts have come from a broad spectrum of interested agencies and individuals. Subsequently, they provide a broader picture of corruption in the 24 countries than might otherwise be expected. Accordingly, this four part volume begins with a brief introduction in which the aims, context, methodology and questionnaire are covered. Part two provides a comparative analysis of the reports, bolstered by the findings of the meeting. Part three contains the collected reports and can be used by practitioners and others interested in the anti-corruption arrangements of the various European Union Member States and candidate countries. The fourth and final part of this volume is a concluding statement in which the recommendations of the final meeting are suggested for consideration.
