The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up - The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing - A Comprehensive Summary Chapter 1: Kondo shares her personal experience The basic principle of the KonMari Method is the thorough sorting of all the things in the home, disposing of or diminishing any mess, and lastly, choosing a spot to keep the remaining things organized. This one-time, exceptional cleaning method produces amazing results and will satisfy an individual so much that they will stay away from their indefinite future and avoid their old habits of disarray. Simplicity in all things is emphasized throughout the book. Readers are encouraged not to blend or coordinate this method with other strategies (for example: FengShui, stream arranging, or cleaning methods custom-made for distinctive identity types). These are unnecessary if one uses the KonMari Method. All individuals with cleaning issues have one of two problems: they either fail to toss useless belongings, or have an inability to return things to their place; they may have a mix of the two issues. Since there are no complex reasons, a difficult planning of arrangements is not required. On the mental level, the person who lives in disarray is often too attached to the past or the future. Hesitating to abandon things, because they might be required in the future, is seen as nervousness about what is to come. Hanging on to things because of nostalgia is seen as sticking to the past. Both attachments must be severed. A clean environment allows an individual to look at their perspective, without being distracted by the disarray around them. To be continued... Here is a Preview of What You Will Get: ⁃ A Full Book Summary ⁃ An Analysis ⁃ Fun quizzes ⁃ Quiz Answers ⁃ Etc. Get a copy of this summary and learn about the book.

The award-winning New York Times bestseller that inspired BTS's K-pop song 'Magic Shop'. The day that 12-year-old James Doty walked in to his local magic shop is the day that changed his life. Once the neglected son of an alcoholic father and a mother with chronic depression, he has gone on to become a leading neurosurgeon, based at Stanford University. He credits Ruth for this incredible turnaround: the remarkable woman he met at the Cactus Rabbit Magic Shop, who devoted the summer to transforming his mind and opening his heart. In this uplifting memoir, Jim explains the visualisation techniques Ruth taught him that gave him the self-esteem to imagine a new future for himself. He examines the science behind mindfulness and why the skills he learned - of focus and attention - now help him to think fast and keep calm in the operating theatre. And he shows us what is possible when you start to change your brain and your heart. Into the Magic Shopimparts some powerful life lessons about how to live better, and inspires us to believe that we all have inside us the capacity to change our own destiny. 'I'm sure many readers will be moved by this inspiring story to open their hearts and see what they too can do for others' - His Holiness the Dalai Lama

By the end of America's "Golden Age of Magic," Chicago had taken center stage in front of an American audience drawn to the craft by the likes of Harry Houdini and Howard Thurston. Cashing in on a craze that rivaled big-band mania, magic shops and clubs sprang up everywhere across the Windy City, packed in customers and put down roots. Over the last century, for example, Magic, Inc. has outfitted magicians from Harry Blackstone Sr. to Penn and Teller to David Copperfield. Magic was an integral part of Chicago's culture, from its earliest venture into live television to the card sharps and hucksters lurking in its amusement parks and pool halls. David Witter keeps track of the shell game of Chicago's fascinating magic history from its vaudeville circuit to its contemporary resurgence.

Climate Risks To Water Security written by Hemant Ojha and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-01-07 with Political Science categories.

In Asia and the Pacific, climate change is now a well-recognised risk to water security but responses to this risk are either under reported, or continue to be guided by the incremental or business as usual approaches. Water policy still tends to remain too narrow and fragmented, compared to the multi-sectoral and cross-scalar nature of risks to water security. What’s more, current water security debates tend to be framed in discipline specific or academic ways, failing to understand decision making and problem-solving contexts within which policy actors and partitioners have to operate on a daily basis. Much of the efforts to date has focussed on assessing and predicting the risks in the context of increasing levels of uncertainty. There is still limited analysis of emerging practices of risks assessment and mitigation in different contexts in Asia and the Pacific. Going beyond the national scales and focussing on several socio-ecological zones, this book captures stories written by engaged scholars on recent attempts to develop cross-sectoral and cross-scaler solutions to assess and mitigate risks to water security across Asia and the Pacific. Identifying lessons from successes and failures, it highlights management and strategic lessons that water and climate leaders of Asia and the Pacific need to consider. This book showcases reflective and analytical thought pieces written by key actors in the climate and water spaces. Several critical socio-ecological zones are covered – from Pakistan in the west to pacific islands in the east. The chapters clearly identify strategies for improvement based on the analysis of emerging responses to climate risks to water security and gaps in current practices. The book will include an editorial introduction and a final synthesis chapter to ensure clear articulation of common themes and to highlight the overall messages of the book.
