I have had the opportunity to travel and have visited churches from Hawaii to Maine, from Fairbanks to Florida, and many in between. I have met many beautiful people, pastors, missionaries, and strong churches changing the culture and community. In some of the churches, a new pattern was noticed. Groups of churches that had different names, different logos, in different locations, but were being unified under new purposes, new directions, and new messages. Traditional Christianity, the faith of our Fathers, was being set aside for this new agenda. Not all churches were willing to compromise, but there were many that were. So the cross was substituted for legacies, the gospel for self-help, and the Almighty for the Almighty Dollar. This direction was warned about in the Bible, from countless stories in the Old Testament, to all of the books in the New Testament, excluding Philemon. But the warnings are being set aside so people can create institutions unto themselves, legacies can be created, and the sheep can be fleeced. Remnants and strongholds of traditional Christianity can still be found in churches all across America. But other churches, oftentimes large and powerful, are rising up alongside these churches to deliver a new Americanized gospel, a 'new me first' message, and create new wealth. They are the Compromised Churches, and they are the greatest threat facing Christianity today.

This book directly confronts the modern day issues of a compromising church. The body of Christ is supposed to be a representation of Jesus. Sadly so many within the church take the same stance as the world and are unwilling to budge on certain topics when it comes to homosexuality, sex before marriage, abortion and what is witchcraft only to name a few. There is a problem when you can't tell the church apart from the world. As you read it, is the author's prayer that the light, truth and love of God touches your heart to see things the way God sees them. If you are looking for Biblical Scripture and truth about some of the most touchy and controversial issues today then look no further.

Today's Christian church is in a severe state of compromise. False prophets and teachers have infiltrated the church, using their status and position to deceive and exploit the hopes of naive believing church members. Under compromised leadership, the focus of attaining salvation for lost and weary souls has shifted to obtaining celebrity status and riches. Promises of blessings are auctioned from the pulpit with the misleading perception that the highest bidders and givers reap the most rewards. Manipulative, corrupt leaders have led parishioners astray, diverting our worship and service unto God, to serving and worshipping the man or woman who simply talks about God. As a result, complacent Christians forgo the opportunity to study God's living word for themselves, relying solely on pastors, preachers, and other church leaders for direction. Lay members fall prey to seemingly saintly characters, driven by selfish ambition, rather than godly pursuits. We have been forewarned in the Bible throughout the Old and New Testaments that there would be false teachers and prophets who would come to deceive the people of God. Yet instead of seeking and arming ourselves with the wisdom and knowledge of God's written word, we continue to consume man's spoken word, without questioning, whether it lines up with scripture. As God's children, we are responsible for knowing what he said and his purpose for our lives. He implores us to seek him and learn of his promises by building a one on one relationship, directly with him. He desires to speak directly to us as our source and guide and if we listen for his voice, he longs to correct us that we may move out of our current state of compromise.

Beautiful Resistance written by Jon Tyson and has been published by Multnomah this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-21 with Religion categories.

In a time of compromise and disillusionment, God is calling his people to a movement of beautiful resistance. We live in a time when our culture is becoming increasingly shallow, coarse, and empty. Radical shifts in the areas of sexuality, ethics, technology, secular ideologies, and religion have caused the once-familiar landscape of a generation ago to be virtually unrecognizable. Yet rather than shine as a beacon of light, the church often is silent or accommodating. This isn’t a new phenomenon. During World War II, pastor and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer was deeply troubled by the compromise in the German church. Their capitulation to the Nazi party brought shame and dishonor to the gospel. In response, he helped create an underground movement of churches that trained disciples and ultimately sought to renew the church and culture of the day. In our compromised church, we need new underground movements of discipleship and resistance. Widely respected New York pastor Jon Tyson unveils a revived vision for faithful discipleship—one that dares to renew culture, restore credibility, and replace compromise with conviction. For all who have felt this conflict in the soul between who we are and who God calls us to be, Beautiful Resistance is a bold invitation to reclaim what’s been lost—regardless of the cost. Praise for Beautiful Resistance “Beautiful Resistance is one of the most compelling and defiant books I’ve read in a long time. I love Jon’s radical, no-messing vision of the church as a prophetic community. This is a wake-up call for us all from the heart of a man who lives his message, loves his city, and serves his Lord with a passion and intelligence destined to become less rare.”—Pete Greig, founder of the 24-7 Prayer movement

In The Color of Compromise, Jemar Tisby takes readers back to the roots of sustained racism and injustice in the American church. Filled with powerful stories and examples of American Christianity's racial past, Tisby's historical narrative highlights the obvious ways people of faith have actively worked against racial justice, as well as the complicit silence of racial moderates. Identifying the cultural and institutional tables that must be flipped to bring about progress, Tisby provides an in-depth diagnosis for a racially divided American church and suggests ways to foster a more equitable and inclusive environment among God's people.
