“A SUPERB book [...] by one of the profound thinkers in our field [behavioral economics].” – Michal G. Bartlett on the second edition “Luca’s book was so helpful to my work. Opened my eyes up to some more reasons why change is so hard.” – Chris Murman on the first edition “So insightful with common sense applications of complexity and the ability to communicate clearly!!” – Bob Klapetzky Seen on Nudgestock. Reviews of Luca Dellanna's previous books "Absolutely brilliant." – Alberto Pisanello "A very thoughtful piece of writing, deep and wiring!" – David Krejca "A thoughtfully written book in very straightforward language." – A.L. Peevey "Very good book. Read it in in two evenings. Great insights straight to the point (not the usual self-help babble). Highly recommended." "One of the best works I have read in that matter (I have read a few) and it's surprising how realistically he depicts the condition." – Manel Vilar (on Luca's book on autism) "A profound, useful and insightful book" – Lorenzo Dragani THE BOOK At a first look, human behavior seems an inexplicable mess. Why do we behave irrationally? Why is change so hard? What is happiness and why does it seem to escape us? The Control Heuristic offers a new perspective to answer these questions and provides a guiding light to understand the subconscious processes that guide our behavior. Luca Dellanna, author of 5 books, writes here a revealing journey into the true motivations for human behavior. Understanding how the human mind really works is the first step to personal change. Suddenly, the frustrating becomes clear and the complex becomes simple.

Advances In Heuristic Signal Processing And Applications written by Amitava Chatterjee and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-07-16 with Computers categories.

There have been significant developments in the design and application of algorithms for both one-dimensional signal processing and multidimensional signal processing, namely image and video processing, with the recent focus changing from a step-by-step procedure of designing the algorithm first and following up with in-depth analysis and performance improvement to instead applying heuristic-based methods to solve signal-processing problems. In this book the contributing authors demonstrate both general-purpose algorithms and those aimed at solving specialized application problems, with a special emphasis on heuristic iterative optimization methods employing modern evolutionary and swarm intelligence based techniques. The applications considered are in domains such as communications engineering, estimation and tracking, digital filter design, wireless sensor networks, bioelectric signal classification, image denoising, and image feature tracking. The book presents interesting, state-of-the-art methodologies for solving real-world problems and it is a suitable reference for researchers and engineers in the areas of heuristics and signal processing.

Presents strategies with reachability graph analysis for optimizing resource allocation systems Supervisory Control and Scheduling of Resource Allocation Systems offers an important guide to Petri net (PN) models and methods for supervisory control and system scheduling of resource allocation systems (RASs). Resource allocation systems are common in automated manufacturing systems, project management systems, cloud data centers, and software engineering systems. The authors—two experts on the topic—present a definition, techniques, models, and state-of-the art applications of supervisory control and scheduling problems. The book introduces the basic concepts and research background on resource allocation systems and Petri nets. The authors then focus on the deadlock-free supervisor synthesis for RASs using Petri nets. The book also investigates the heuristic scheduling of RASs based on timed Petri nets. Conclusions and open problems are provided in the last section of the book. This important book: Includes multiple methods for supervisory control and scheduling with reachability graphs, and provides illustrative examples Reveals how to accelerate the supervisory controller design and system scheduling of RASs based on PN reachability graphs, with optimal or near-optimal results Highlights both solution quality and computational speed in RAS deadlock handling and system scheduling Written for researchers, engineers, scientists, and professionals in system planning and control, engineering, operation, and management, Supervisory Control and Scheduling of Resource Allocation Systems provides an essential guide to the supervisory control and scheduling of resource allocation systems (RASs) using Petri net reachability graphs, which allow for multiple resource acquisitions and flexible routings.

Suppose And Tell written by Timothy Williamson and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020 with Philosophy categories.

What does 'if' mean? This book argues for a new approach to understanding conditionals, based on the idea that in assessing them we are guided by psychological heuristics, fast and frugal methods, mostly but not always reliable, although the user may have no advance warning from the inside of their fallibility. As a result, philosophers and linguists have been led astray in theorizing about conditionals, because they have taken erroneous judgements about examples as data; simple theories have been too quickly dismissed. The main heuristic involves making a supposition and exploring its consequences, often in the imagination. Although powerful, this methods can lead to paradoxes. A secondary heuristic is to accept heuristic are sometimes in tension. However, formal results help show why the simple 'material' semantics makes the best sense of the two heuristics, even though they generate apparent counter-examples to that semantics. The second half of the book presents a new theory of the meaning of counterfactuals about what would be if things were different; it is explained in terms of the separate meanings of 'if' and 'would'. This account is applied to the role of counterfactuals in thought experiments. Suppose and Tell: The Semantics and Heuristics of Conditionals analyses a wide variety of linguistic data, and discusses the cognitive value of conditionals in our lives, from everyday decision-making to mathematical proofs. Wider implications are drawn for the nature of meaning and its non-transparency to native speakers, vagueness in thought and language, and the need for semantics to attend to the unreliable heuristics underlying our judgements. Book jacket.

READERS’ REVIEWS “This is a tremendously useful book. If you apply the book sincerely, your outlook and understanding of what is happening in your life (especially the portions where you are struggling) will change. A deep book [...] based on principles rather than simple prescriptions. The writing is simple and direct rather than flowery. It is clear that the author has implemented what he says in his own life. There are quick and effective action points at the end of most chapters. Some of the individual chapters are themselves worth the price of the book. If you are the sort of person who likes something both practical and thoughtful, do buy and read this book.” – Balaji Srinivasan (not Balajis) “I am amazed at Luca Dellanna’s ability to observe, compile, and articulate 99 very actionable life principles here. Each chapter describes the rule in a way that makes you think and then summarizes the Action. It’s filled with DEEP insights yet VERY readable.” – Theresia Tanzil Absolutely brilliant. You might have grasped some of these concepts before but having them structured and in writing makes all the difference [...] I will surely recommend it to friends and co-workers. – Alberto Pisanello A very thoughtful piece of writing, deep and wiring!” – David Krejca “Luca Dellanna’s new book “100 Truths” is super tight! [...] Practical, directional advice.” – Hari Meyyappan “100 Truths has been a game changer.” – Adam English “A thoughtfully written book in very straightforward language.” – A.L. Peevey “Excellent book with formulas to increase the chances of achieving what we want to be in life. Luca writes directly and leads the reader into Action.” – Edgar 100 MENTAL MODELS TO EASE YOUR WAY THROUGH LIFE I wasted years of my life because I did not know its rules. I did not know the rules of relationships, careers, health, or happiness. Then, through hard work, talking with mentors, and trial & error, I uncovered some of them. Now, I lay these rules out for you. In this book, you will find 100 of the lessons I learned. It will still require some work from your side to internalize them and put them into practice, but at least it will make the process easier for you by letting you avoid committing the same mistakes as I did. THE TITLES OF SOME OF THE CHAPTERS INSIDE INCLUDE: - Problems grow the size needed for you to acknowledge them. - Taking a course of Action makes it easier to take it again, for better or for worse. - Other people’s expectations aren’t your problem. - Hating those who despise what you want will prevent you from obtaining it. - Discipline is freedom. - Extraordinary people are extraordinarily selective. - Successful people, at some point in their life, committed to the hard choice. - Self-respect is the compass for change that matters. - The standards you have today determine the life you will have in a few years. - People are extremely good at succeeding at their priorities and extremely dishonest about them. - Your problems aren’t different. - Listening is about not projecting your own worldviews.
