In Denmark, architecture practices of all shapes and sizes wage a daily battle to improve our physical environment with respect for society and community. Whether it is day care centres, public spaces, prisons or co-housing schemes, architects challenge themselves and their clients in their efforts to tackle the major challenges facing our age. This is the conviction of the curators, Boris Brorman Jensen and Kristoffer Lindhardt Weiss, who scrutinised 300 current architectural projects from both Denmark and abroad before coming up with the 130, which they then selected to be part of the Danish Pavilion at this year's Venice Architecture Biennale. Exhibition: Venice Architecture Biennale, Italy (28.05-27.11.2016).

In Olafur Eliasson's exhibition The Blind Pavilionfor the Danish pavilion at the most recent Venice Biennale, virtually all the strategies that the artist had employed up until now were activated: mirror reflections, glass kaleidoscopes, stretches of stairway, architectural interventions, and camera obscuras. An all-encompassing exhibition, it cancelled out the dividing lines between work and viewer, between outside and inside, between art and science. A parallel counterpart to the pavilion, rather than a mere representation of it, is the book The Blind Pavilion. Created by Eliasson in close collaboration with Danish author Svend Uge Madsen, who has persistently challenged our notions of time and space in his writings, The Blind Paviliongathers writing by authors, poets, and theoreticians who were invited to contribute texts that explore our constantly shifting and ever-evolving capacity for "orienting" ourselves. The texts serve as contributions to an examination of how we physically and psychologically orient ourselves to the world--and of what happens when we are deprived of one or more of our orientation possibilities, for example our ability to hear and remember, to expect something, or to experience the passage of time.

The development of the artistic research for Palestinian artist Larissa Sansour's project for the Danish Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale Heirloom documents the development of the artistic research for Palestinian artist Larissa Sansour's project for the Danish Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale. It explores how recurrent notions in Sansour's oeuvre, such as memory, trauma, identity, and belonging, intertwine with the discourses of science fiction and environmental disaster narratives. It also explores what it means to produce work from within contested geographies, specifically considering how, through research and the process of production, the artist grapples with complex issues of national representation.

Danish Modern written by Mark Mussari and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-06-16 with Design categories.

Danish Modern explores the development of mid-century modernist design in Denmark from historical, analytical and theoretical perspectives. Mark Mussari explores the relationship between Danish design aesthetics and the theoretical and cultural impact of Modernism, particularly between 1930 and 1960. He considers how Danish designers responded to early Modernist currents: the Stockholm Exhibition of 1930, their rejection of Bauhaus aesthetic demands, their early fealty to wood and materials, and the tension between cabinetmaker craft and industrial production as it challenged and altered their aesthetic approach. Tracing the theoretical foundations for these developments, Mussari discusses the writings and works of such figures as Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Hans Wegner, Nanna Ditzel, and Finn Juhl.
