The third edition of this directory was created to assist undergraduate students and their advisors in identifying graduate programs in psychology that have specific training emphases in clinical child psychology and/or pediatric psychology. It is not intended as a substitute for the Handbook of Graduate Studies in Psychology published by the American Psychological Association; it is intended as a complementary resource. While various criteria have been proposed to define what constitutes a program emphasis or track in clinical child psychology and pediatric psychology, no specific definition was imposed in creating this directory. The intent was to update the directory to include all programs with APA approval (clinical, counseling, and school programs) that self-define as offering training in "clinical child psychology" and/or "pediatric psychology." Although not an official publication of the American Psychological Association or APA's Division 12, this directory was created with the support of the Section on Clinical Child Psychology (Section I) and the Society of Pediatric Psychology (Section V) of the Division of Clinical Psychology of the APA.

In the past several decades, psychology has grown so rapidly in many countries that no one has been able to keep up-to-date on more than a handful of countries. To be sure, the highly developed countries of North America, Western Europe, Ja pan, and Australia have generally had well-known national psychological societies for most of this century, and consider able information about their universities and institutes has been published at one time or another. But even in these more highly developed countries, the rapid changes of recent years are not well known. In any event, what information has been published is scattered so widely that it is hardly accessible when needed. Still less well known is the growth of psychology in the developing countries of Latin America, Asia, and Africa, and at least for Western readers, even the modem nations of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union are relatively unknown. Only recently have most Western psychologists become aware of the fact that psychology as they know it is provincial. With more than half of the world's highly trained psychologists in Canada and the United States, which together devote far more of their national resources to psychological research than is true of any other countries in the world, it is not surprising that the North American journals, psychological associations, institutes, clinics, and other manifestations of psychology have completely domi nated the field, at least until recently.

Minority And Cross Cultural Aspects Of Neuropsychological Assessment written by F.R. Ferraro and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-01-01 with Psychology categories.

Minority and Cross-Cultural Neuropsychological Assessment pulls together neuropsychological assessment issues across a wide range of minority groups and populations currently underserved. Included are chapters related to African-Americans, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Hispanic/Latinos, Native Americans, and Rural Populations. Some minority groups have not been as widely studied or examined as other groups from a neuropsychological assessment perspective. This book will fill this obvious void. Other chapters are devoted to traditions and trends in clinical neuropsychology, and there is a section that examines the future of minority and cross-cultural issues in neuropsychological assessment. The current literature regarding minority and cross-cultural issues in neuropsychological assessment is quite scattered and it is the goal of this book to provide a more thorough review and refinement of the issues presented.

They have distinct cultural patterns and values that those who seek to serve them competently as clinicians and educators, and those who attempt to study them, need to understand. This is the first comprehensive overview of the psychology of the Chicana/o experience since 1984. Solidly grounded in the latest theory and research, much of which is relevant to other Latina/o groups as well, The Handbook of Chicana/o Psychology and Mental Health is an indispensable source of up-to-date information and guidance for mental health and education professionals, their trainees and students; and for social and behavioral scientists interested in the impact of cultural differences in multicultural settings.
