Excerpt from The Discovery of God Generally speaking, this progress is made through some individual pioneer Of truth who gathers into himself the best in what previous generations have handed down to him, and goes on to richer understandings. These adventures occur all through the Bible's reflection Of the soul of man, and we shall pause at but a few of them. It shall be at such times as when to some sensitive spirit new qualities in God became evi dent, as radium to Madame Curie, or to New ton the law Of gravitation. The experiences Of men like Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, St. Paul, are SO akin to discovery that there is no forcing Of language in the use Of the term. Developing their own insight into the Divine, they Opened up the way by which others could follow their example. Excerpt from The Little Green God A large clerical gathering which had been convened for several days in that favorite convention city, Buffalo, was breaking up. The broad stream of outgoing clergy and laymen had poured through the wide-opened doors of the Stone Church and spent itself, leaving now but a few straggling individuals to depart one by one or two by two. In the luxuriously equipped antechamber, into which the warm noon light struck richly through amber-colored glass, a few men still stood in groups. Excerpt from The Creation of God "Si les nommes etaient capables de gouverner toute la conduite de leur vie par un dessein regle, si la fortune leur etait toujours favorable, leur ame serait libre de toute superstition." - Spinoza, 1650. "Il n'y a pas de moyen plus efficace que la Superstition pour gouverner la multitude." - Quinte Curce. "But in the temple of their hireling hearts Gold is a living god, and rules in scorn All earthly things but virtue." "Falsehood demands but gold to pay the pangs Of outraged conscience; for the slavish priest Sets no great value on his hireling faith." "But human pride Is skillful to invent most serious names To hide its ignorance." - Shelley. At this time, in this age of agitation, unrest, dissatisfaction, and doubt among the masses, and all classes, in every civilized part of the globe, in all communities and human organizations, in church and out of church, ecclesiastical bodies of all shades; besides the vast number of theories and doctrines of a popular socialistic, anti-poverty, communistic order, etc., a prevailing skepticism has seized the minds of men, as to the truth, validity, and stability of the entire religious fabric. Excerpt from How a Modern Atheist Found God IN the following pages the author has tried to give a true and faithful account of his own actual experience. When Science and Historical Criticism are making such inroads on the old orthodox forms of belief, there will, doubtless, be many who, to the First Part of the book, can furnish a more or less similar experience of their own. But it is the Second Part that is really significant, for it describes the way in which a Positive Atheist, step by step, and by Reason alone, was compelled to abandon that position for a glorious unshakable Faith in the Infinite Truth, Love, and Goodness of God. Language Logic And God written by Frederick Ferré and has been published by Pickle Partners Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-28 with Religion categories.

“THIS BOOK is an attempt to fill the present striking need for an introduction to contemporary linguistic philosophy as it bears on theological discourse. Wherever I have gone, recently, among educated Christians in Britain and America, I have encountered profound curiosity—and a good deal of anxiety—concerning modern methods in philosophy as they relate to the logical nature and validity of theological affirmations. Similarly I have found many of my students in contemporary philosophy and in the philosophy of religion becoming deeply absorbed in the issues raised by a critical examination of theological speech. From both groups, the intellectually alert Christians and the thoughtful graduate and undergraduate students of philosophy and religion, I have been heavily bombarded with appeals for direction to some book which would (1) set forth the central issues and arguments concerning theological discourse for readers who have familiarity with traditional philosophy but who are relatively untrained in contemporary philosophical practices and (2) place into perspective the present state of philosophical and theological discussion in this area of burgeoning interest. To my frustration, I have had to answer such requests with the admission that no such book exists and with the promise that I would try, some day, to provide that book myself. In preparing this volume, therefore, I have done my best to keep those promises in mind.”
