Changing the hand washing behavior in a community is a challenge of different disciplines, including psychology and media practice. Distinct beliefs prevent people from washing their hands properly in critical moments. Moreover, each segment of the community has a different belief. Hence, adults, children, women, and men should be addressed differently. This experimental study explores the process of isolating and changing the beliefs of grade six students from the Chandba Primary School, in Chilga Local Administration North Gondar Zone Amhara Region, in Ethiopia. The intervention activities are done to increase a positive association with water and soap concerning the three critical moments, namely before eating, before touching or preparing food, and after defecation. The study describes the overall practical implementations of combined behavior change theories, and shows how they can be applied to the selection of target beliefs. The present study identifies important variables that are negatively and positively associated with hand hygiene. The results are based on a questionnaire, observations, and practical evaluation of hand washing skills that were identified during the four week intervention. • The study helps to develop communicators to change children's hygiene behavior. • It has significance in helping the participants to understand better ways of using locally available materials and methods for hygiene facilities preparation. • It shows the effectiveness of combined implementation of practical participation and multimedia message delivery regarding hygiene behavior change interventions. In general, the study reviles the complementary effect of multiple communication tools and models of treatment as well as their appropriate analytic strategies to change participant’s hygiene behavior.

Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2012 in the subject Pedagogy - The Teacher, Educational Leadership, http: //www.mu.ac.ke/, course: Education Management and Policy studies, language: English, abstract: This study assessed the primary teachers' of head teachers' curriculum supervision in Emgwen Division of Nandi North District, Kenya.The study sought to determine the primary school teachers, perception of the role of headteachers in communication of school mission, involvement in curriculum supervision, visible presence in the school, and provision of resourcses.Research design used was a decriptive survey based on contigency theory ofleadership.Proportionate samplimng was used to categorize schools according to zones and twenty schools were selected in the five zones. A total of one hundred and twenty teachers and twenty head teachers participated in the study.Head teachers were sampled purposively in each school while teachers were sampled randomly from each department. Questionnaires were used in collecting data. A pilot study was done in two schools in a neighboring Kapsabet Division to establish reliability of research instruments whereby test -retest method was used. A correlation coefficient of 0.71 was obtained. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics involving means, standard deviation, percentages and frequencies.Findings revealed that headteachers did not clearly involve teachers in the formulation of the school mission and neither were they involved n curriculum supervision. Furthermore they were not visibly present in every part of the school compound.The study recommends that the Government should provide funds to train headteachers and also provide sufficient resources.Head teachers should clearly explain the school mission and involve teachers in the formulation of the mission.They also have to be in school most of the time.It is expected that the findings of the study will be useful to policy makers and other stakeholders includ

This study was designed to assess automatic promotion in light of these requirements. It conducted to answer some basic questions what are the statuses of automatic promotion policy practices? What are the views of stakeholders of education about automatic promotion? What are the problems related to automatic promotion practices? What remedial measures can be taken to overcome the challenges? Depending the above research questions The study was conducted in 25 schools as sources of information from the four Districts of Bale zone oromia Region, 230 teachers of the grades 1-3, 30 principals and 9 District Education experts and 5 CRC supervisors, 105 PTA members were taken as sources of information. The design of study used descriptive survey both quantitative and qualitative method the data was collected through questionnaires, interview, document, focus group discussion. The data obtained were analyzed mainly using percentage, chi-square and qualitative presentation in addition purposive sampling and simple random sampling techniques used. The results of the study reveals that the awareness of teachers about the reasons behind the introduction of automatic promotion in the schools, and about the different alternative strategies other than retention and automatic promotion in dealing with low-performing students. Teachers seem to know all the implications of automatic promotion in their teaching practices. But, in practice, teachers 'utilization of continuous assessment and implementing mechanisms of automatic promotion is poor.
