This book provides a multi-scale reading of the spatial “elements” in which the extensive urbanity in Yangtze River Delta is constructed, and from there an imagination of a new paradigm of urbanization. The urbanization in Yangtze River Delta today is in need of a new interpretation and paradigm. The delta is a territory with city cores but it also has vast dispersed urbanization where the agricultural and non-agricultural activities and spaces are mixed and interlinked, a desakota (McGee, 1991). This book attempts to answer a basic question: what is the desakota in the Yangtze River Delta made of? The research Horizontal Metropolis led by Prof. Paola Viganò at EPFL, Switzerland focuses on the form of the contemporary city – the fragmentary spatial condition and dispersed urbanity all over the world. Planet (Onfein) in the constellation, Pieces, is home to a population known as Urezko. The planet and the population exist in The Age Of Serenity, where health, beauty, and accomplishment have no limitation. The entire planet and the Ureezko are cursed by the queen of the sub-galactic realm, Izar Neskamea. Genetic mutation sets in, causing the planet and its population to mutate. Because of this mutation and the consequential violations of divine law, the supreme Lord Of The Universe, Janiko Gorino, smashes planet Onfein into two halves, creating planet Elbear. More mutated elements of Ureezko are placed onto this planet Elbear. The planets are condemned to being rivals for all future time. The story is futuristic science fiction. While there may appear to be a creationist starting element to this tale, the broad beginning intent was to explain the story's origin, and the conflict. Philosophy is combined with raw action, then reflected on to the ground creatively, in a manner recognizable to the reader as being an angle of perspective he would love to reach out and seize hold of.

Despite being internationally-known for his work on Lafayette Park in Detroit, Hilberseimer's legacy as a whole has been obscured in the history of modern architecture. This careful and scholarly study assembles and discusses the available evidence for the ecllesiastical organisation of the Church of the East (the so-called 'Nestorian' church) in the Middle East between the fourteenth and twentieth centuries. The author has built on the work of the late J.M. Fiey, but has covered a wider geographical area and used a much wider range of sources. Besides drawing on the memoirs of European and American missionaries and other literary sources, the author has consulted a large number of manuscript catalogues, many of which are only accessible in Arabic sources, and has analysed the evidence of more than 2.500 East Syrian manuscript colophons to establish the dioceses of the Church of the East at different periods, to identify its ecclesiastical elites (patriarchs, bishops, priests, deacons and scribes), and to analyse the rivalry between the church's traditionalist and Catholic wings after the schism of 1552. The study contains a number of detailed maps, which localise hundreds of East Syrian villages in Kurdistan, and will be an indispensable reference tool for scholars of the Church of the East.
