The Empowerment Of Eu Agencies In Eu Border Management written by Yichen Zhong (Researcher in politics and international relations) and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025 with Administrative agencies categories.

"This book examines the role of European Union agencies in the EU's external border control policy, looking at how the empowerment of particular bodies has shaped the management of their external borders and influenced EU governance more broadly. Focussing on four key aspects of agency involvement - joint sea operations, information access, inter-agency cooperation, and international action - the book sheds light on the daily policy implementation and operational collaboration at the EU's external borders and beyond. It finds that the agencies increasingly demonstrated the capacity to sway decision-making and implementation from within. This has led to a reduction in Member States' policy autonomy, an increase in EU oversight over border management, and the institutionalisation of a common administrative capacity at the EU level, leading to a shift in the EU's approach to border management towards integration. This book will be of key interest to scholars and students of border management, migration studies and asylum, EU administration and agencies and more broadly to European studies, international relations, and public administration"--

The contributions are based on problem-driven research and seek to develop bottom-up, policy-oriented solutions, while taking into account global, EU-based and local perspectives, and the shifting universes of EU migration, border and asylum policies. In 15 chapters, we explore the multifaceted dimensions of the EU external migration policy and its evolution in the post-crisis, geopolitical environment of the Global Compacts.

This book provides a wealth of empirical material to understand key aspects of EU governance including its plurality of actors and policy making modes and its functioning during crisis management. Authored by legal scholars and political scientists, it presents new research and insights on the role of EU agencies in the context of the Euro and migration crises. Specifically, the contributions assess why the crises have led to the creation of new EU agencies and what roles these agencies have performed since their inception; how the crisis, notably the migration crisis, has impacted on existing EU agencies; how EU agencies have shaped the policies during and after the crises; and, how the crisis has affected the accountability of EU agencies. This book is essential in understanding the intricacies of EU crisis management and the specific role of EU agencies therein, as well as EU governance more broadly. Eu Agencies written by Merijn Chamon and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-06-02 with Law categories.

Over the last two decades, EU legislation has established a growing number of subsidiary bodies commonly referred to as EU decentralised agencies. Recent years have witnessed the conferral of increasingly significant powers to these bodies to the point where the successful implementation of many of the EU's policies is now dependent upon the activities of EU agencies. While EU agencies have become indispensable in terms of their practical importance, the lack of a legal basis in the EU Treaties to establish and empower new bodies as well as the lack of an adequate framework in secondary law means that there exists little control over EU agencies. This results in critical issues, such as the absence of clear criteria prescribing when an agency may be empowered to act and also the failure to consider the interests of the actors normally responsible for the implementation of EU law, such as the Member States and the Commission. Providing the first comprehensive overview of the development of agencification in the EU, this book explores the question: What are the political and legal limits to EU agencification? Analysing EU agencies from an institutional and constitutional perspective, the book traces the development of EU agencies, explores the different tasks they perform, investigates the limits to agencification, and discusses the legal basis for such agencies.

This book provides a comprehensive analysis of how the parties of Lega and Rassemblement National have adjusted their ideologies over a four-decade period to adapt to the new transnational cleavage in Western Europe – the conflict between pro-EU and anti-EU sentiments. It sheds light on their ability to change ideological positions, policy stances, and adopt strategic shifts in response to the evolving political landscape. Drawing from a rich array of sources, the book challenges the perception of established radical right parties as inflexible, revealing their significant ideological adaptability. As such, it offers a richer understanding of the dynamics within the radical right party family. This book is of key interest to scholars and students of Euroscepticism, the Radical Right, party politics, and more broadly to European and comparative politics.
