Agatha Christie vanished from her Sunningdale, Berkshire, home on the evening of December 3 and went missing for 11 days. The largest missing person manhunt in British history began when the crime writer's abandoned car was found. It's astonishing that such a well-chronicled event of Christie's life has remained resistant to the narrative closure that was so vital to her own work considering her status as the bestselling author of all time, outselling only the Bible and Shakespeare in terms of sales. Whether Agatha Christie's disappearance was caused by the psychological repercussions of the sadness she was experiencing or if there were additional factors may never be known. But there's no denying that her marriage to Archie Christie disintegrating was a painful event. After ultimately divorcing in 1928, Archie married Nancy Neele, his mistress. Later, Agatha married Max Mallowan, an archaeologist, in 1930. On January 12, 1976, at the age of 85, Agatha Christie passed away at her Wallington, Oxfordshire, home from age-related natural causes.

The Mysterious Affair at Styles Agatha Christie - The extreme interest stimulated in people in general by what was known at the time as "The Styles Case" has now fairly died down. All things considered, in perspective on the overall reputation which went to it, I have been inquired, both by my companion Poirot and the actual family, to compose a recordof the entire story. This, we trust, will viably quiet the thrilling tales which actually endure.I will therefore briefly set down the circumstances which led to mybeing connected with the affair.Poirot, a Belgian refugee of the Great War, is settling in England near the home of Emily Inglethorp, who helped him to his new life. His friend Hastings arrives as a guest at her home. When the woman is killed, Poirot uses his detective skills to solve the mystery. The first book of the "Hercule Poirot" series, The Mysterious Affair at Styles is a masterpiece of mystery and a must-have for all who love a great story!

Agatha Christie was born Agatha Mary Clarissa Miller in Devon, England in 1890. Her father was an American stockbroker. Agatha was the youngest of three children. After working as a nurse during World War I, she married Archie Christie, an aviator in the Royal Flying Corps.Christie's debut novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, introduced one of her most famous characters, the detective Hercule Poirot. She began writing the novel during World War I, partly in response to a bet from her sister Madge that she couldn't write a good detective story, and partly to relieve the monotony of her job at a hospital dispensary. The first three publishers she brought the novel to rejected it, and it was almost a decade until she found a publisher in John Lane of The Bodley Head. While married to Archie Christie, she published six other novels and numerous short stories. Her marriage, however, was turbulent, and she and her husband divorced after she discovered he was having an affair. Soon after her discovery of the affair, Christie disappeared, causing a national uproar. She was found soon after and blamed the disappearance on memory loss.
