"Chichi Agorom's voice is a part of the reckoning that has been needed in the culture of the Enneagram. Writing with clarity and heart, [this book] is an offering to our collective liberation." —Renée Rosario, MA, LPC, Core Faculty member of the Narrative Enneagram Am I worthy of belonging? Am I loved just as I am? Am I safe to exist without worry? How do Black women return to our truest selves in systems that answer "no" to these three questions? The Enneagram is an ancient system of human development that shows us the limiting stories that keep us stuck in unhelpful patterns, and invites us into more expansive stories. For too long, conversations about the Enneagram and its personality types have been centered on and by whiteness. In The Enneagram for Black Liberation, certified Enneagram teacher and trained psychotherapist Chichi Agorom reclaims the Enneagram as a powerful tool for Black women to rediscover our wholeness and worth that existed long before systems of supremacy told us we weren't enough. For Black women in particular, our Enneagram personality types reflect more than just our way of being in the world; they are shaped by armor that we use to protect ourselves from pain, suffering, and shame. Breaking down each Enneagram type as a form of armor, this book offers practices to help Black women, and all who live on the margins, begin to build a sense of self separate from our mechanisms of self-protection, while working to dismantle the systems that require us to stay constantly armored up. Chichi Agorom takes readers through each of the nine Enneagram types, along with stories of Black women who identify with them, to illustrate the stories people must tell themselves in order to feel safe. In the process, Agorom seeks to inspire us to expand beyond our type patterns. Centering freedom, ease, and rest for Black women, Agorom invites each of us to claim the Enneagram as our tool for resilience-building in the continued fight for liberation.

Your true nature is happiness and bliss. Everyone wants to be happy. This is a universal component of the human condition and may seem so self-evident that it does not bear noting. So why is it that so few people are truly happy? If it is true that our nature is happiness and bliss, why has it been so rare for people to realize this? Why has it been so rare for people to live their lives in gratitude and love? There is a living intelligence in all people that seeks ultimately to discover its true identity and source. It is a fortunate and mysterious moment when the desire for happiness leads to the investigation into personal identity, also known as self-inquiry. In the light of direct self-inquiry, limitations that once seemed to define oneself are discovered to be more like transparent lines drawn on water. They exist only on the surface of consciousness in one's imagination. When these illusions of mind are clearly exposed, true limitless being reveals itself. The Enneagram has appeared in our time as an illusory medicine to cure an imaginary disease. The disease is the egoic idea of separation from God, from one s true source. The cure is to look in the wisdom mirror of the Enneagram to see past all false identification to the truth of being. Eli Jaxon-Bear presents a radically new model of the ego and the psyche. Bringing together his background in Buddhism with the Sufi work on essence, he presents a fresh approach to awakening by using the Enneagram's nine fixated structures of ego to clearly describe who you are not. You will see how habits of egoic identification continuously appear to veil the pure, pristine consciousness that you truly are. When these habits of mind are exposed, there is a clear choice to end the bondage of ego-based suffering and to realize the vast, inherent freedom of one' s true nature. In this book, Eli gives us the map of the prison of mind and the keys to freedom.

This collection is for the people who probably would not otherwise be exposed to the thoughts of these phenomenal Black rebels. Browsing through some of the already published Black quotation compilations I realized how significant and special the content of The Suppressed Rebellion is. Minus a few non-controversial quotes from Malcolm X and maybe Huey P. Newton, these other more mainstream compilations neglected to incorporate almost everyone I included in The Suppressed Rebellion. None of these books, and I won t bother to name them, had anything from Assata Shakur, Amilcar Cabral, John Henrik Clarke, Frances Cress Welsing, or most of the other people whose most profound thoughts are contained in this volume. I m proud that I ve given these very significant people their due, or at least exposed them to an audience maybe not familiar with their ideas. This book is not intended to substitute further research into the complete works of these rebels, but to familiarize more people with them so that further research is encouraged. Every thought included throughout this volume is as relevant today as it was when initially expressed. The struggle is not over. Just because a portion of Black people have been allowed to progress materially and individually through integration into White society doesn t mean the Black liberation struggle is over. If you think it is over, then you are probably one of the integrated, would like to be one of the integrated, or maybe just don t understand. Until Black people have complete control over every aspect of their existence then the struggle continues, period. The Suppressed Rebellion works toward supporting this very notion. If you just read and reflect on a few quotes every day, it will have a definite effect on how you perceive and participate in the liberation struggle of Black people globally. Even if you believe yourself to be among the more knowledgeable regarding the liberation struggle, I am highly confident that you will benefit tremendously from the comprehensive insight of this volume.

The Enneagram is a powerful tool, with ancient roots and modern appeal, for detailing the human personality. It illuminates the painful truth of where we are and inspires us with the promise of where we could be. As the Enneagram has grown in popularity over the past 30 years, the insights offered have focused either on the present or the future, with little guidance on how to move from Point A to Point B. In the The Conscious Enneagram Abi Robins offers a rich, insightful guide for those seeking to move from patterns to promise. Through practical, easy-to-understand coaching, storytelling, and personal inquiry, Robins explores three main ways for getting from where we are to where we could be: Practice, Lineage, and Community. These make up the three-legged stool of the inner and outer work required to radically change the way we think, feel, and move through the world. This book will show you how to cultivate each of these legs in your life in meaningful, enriching ways that are tailored to your type.
